The characters in VK and Fruits Basket seem similar.
Both Tohru and Yuuki start out innocent to what's really going on around them, but as the storyline unfolds, both are determined to do whatever they can to help with the situation. (Both characters also have the same voice actor.)
Also, Kyo and Zero both have the anti-social, trying to be a tough guy and deal with my problems all by myself thing going on.
Now before you call me crazy just follow along...
The three main characters in this anime are pretty much identical to the three main characters in Vampire Knight with even the same dynamics.
Kyo = Zero
Sohma Yuki = Kuran/clan Kaname
Honda Tohru = Yuki
Kyo/Zero is kind of the outcast with a dark secret
Sohma Yuki/ Kaname-sama is the popular handsome character
Tohru/Yuki is the main optimistic girl who goes to incredible lengths and through a lot of adversity and is the center of the love triangle.
Seriously Vampire Knight = Fruits Basket with Vampires... its a great idea and works well but the parallels are very obvious if you look at

Both Vampire Knight and Fruits Basket revolve around a girl keeping an important secret. Each are reverse harem, and some of the characters are similar.

Even though Fruits Basket has a lot more "funny moments", two series are similar due to female protagonist, love triangle and characters with tragic pasts.
Both are supernatural with a love triangle.
