Both animes involve a sort of family curse that creates a second identity the characters have to hide from normal humans. In both, a main character feels cursed by the ancestors identity that they inherited, and feel somewhat inferior because of it. Though the leading female characters share no personality similarities, both bring out good qualities in their male counterparts, are able to overlook what the leading male characters despise most about themselves, and help each other grow which leads to romance.
