They both involve a school system using a sort of summoned beast in combat. They both have several similarities in genre: action and romantic comedy.
Both are comedies (but Baka to Test is a bit insane in a sense when it comes to it's style of comedy), and both have kids that go to an academy where they practice sort of similiar fighting powers. Both have the same love triangle, with a violent tsundere and a super sweet girl going for the same clumsy lead male!
Overall, Baka to Test focuses a bit more on comedy and it doesn't take it's plot too seriously, while Zero no Tsukaima on the other hand does have a comedy aspect, but it also has some very serious and dramatic elements to it. But regardless,

Both of these amines have female characters with pink hair. And both find trouble expressing their love for the male protagonist.

These both take place at a school where the main male protagonist is unlike any other, Saito being a familiar and Akihisa being the Probate. The main difference between the two characters is that Saito becomes smarter, where Aki deserves the title "Idiot".
