In both, we have a protagonist suddenly plunged into a new environment, very different from where they live. Oda Nobuna no Yabou has the protagonist traveled back in time, in an alternate universe, while Outbreak Company has it's protagonist travel to a different fantasy world. In both, they are faced with very different social structures, and attempt to bring modern knowledge to the people around them, and in doing so, they end up with a very prominent role or position. They are both surrounded by abundant cute girls.

In essence, the main protagonist from both series unexpectingly becomes a resident of another world after one faithful day. To the other characters, he is quite different because of the place from where he came.
The main male protagonist plays central roles in various episodes while bringing forth his ideas from the modern world to help its residents. The main female protagonist from both series contrasts from each other but becomes attached to the mc as the series progresses as well as vice versa.
There is bits of action (more so in Oda Nobuna no Yabou) dealing with their perspective worlds and its conflicts.
