Their settings may be different, but the events of both series take place in an alternate world. In that world, they must fight for survival with their tactical minds to put forth strategies. There is fantasy elements present along with action, drama, and comedy.
The main female protagonist from both series is also skilled, independent, and has a talent in fighting. Her relationship with the main male protagonist can be viewed in a variety of ways.
Well Oda Nobuna no Yabou is not base on VRMMO but it has something to do with a game too.. Both anime use the map of Japan as based of it's map.. and Log Horizon seems to have Warring state too by the premier release of map of Elder Tale
Both anime are about "another" world, and both have a good humor.
Oda Nobuna is about historical events, but Log Horizon is about fantasy world.
Both have the characters transported to a different version of their own world. There, they use skills they gained by playing a lot of video games in order to aid in order to live in that world. They involve romance, magic, sword fighting, groups of people fighting (in Oda Nobuna no Yabou it is armies while in Log Horizon it is guilds), etc. They both have some moe character designs for the girls, but it much more apparent in Oda Nobuna no Yabou.
