Both main characters strive to finish a level-like building. In SAO, Kirito is trying to complete the levels in order to survive, as for Magi, Alibaba is trying to complete the dungeon in order to gain power and wealth.
Both take place in fantasy world, where the protagonist goes for an adventure, conquers dungeons and fights monsters. In Magi, they focus on thing suchs as slavery and mistreatment of citizens, as the protagonist tries to do whats right for the people.
If you like fantasy world based anime with lots of combat in general, then this show will suit you well.
