Both present a sport in a serious manner
Both focus on said sport, but leave just enough room for a story and characters to evolve
Both feature some comedic moments, not too many, but just enough to make it not feel too tense
When watching 2.43, I got some Chihayafuru vibes, it presented a character in love with volleyball, a friend who wasn't as into it, but still just enough to want to start a club with the MC, and they then build a good team from disinterested members.
In Chihayafuru, it's more of the same, a passionnate Chihaya build a good team with the help of her semi-interested
