Animes about an specific activity that has its ups and downs, Idolish7 and Chihayafuru make an introspection over their characters and how the relationships they had in the past and the ones they have in the present develop, also in both series the characters help each other to surprass their struggles

Both shows may seem kinda boring due to the main concept, but indeed Chihayafuru and Idolish7 are shows that have well developed characters, that keep growing during the seasons, the characters, both shows are cheerful but the serious scenes are well executed
Both animes have characters with apparently plain personalities but each one of them gonna have a good development.
Both animes are more than just the plot seem, the stories are about the life itself rather than just the idol world/karuta world.
Both series have a good balance of humor and dramatic moments.
Both animes deal with their theme itself (Sports and Music), but they also talk about other topics like romance, traumas, learning to love yourself, among many other personal struggles.
The characters in the start are mostly unknown people to each other but they gonna have to teamwork to success in their respective activity, plus they gonna help each other to face their struggles in the road.
If you want to watch these shows, you gotta know that these series are good not only for how they portray the sport/music, but also because of their handling to telling the story, giving a good development to the whole cast, and doing a good handling of the dramatic and comic moments at the same time.

Both are animes about the characters teamworking to be the best at their activity (Karuta player and being a pop star), the characters have a well development and the anime itself talks more about the relationships between the characters than the sport/music itself, but both as well talk about it in a good way
