Slow-paced but steady and beautifully executed character development. While the characters in both series are very different from each other and are at different parts of their lives, the themes of both are very similar. Both are also produced in the 1980s and gives you a very genuine feel for what Japan was like at the time. If you loved one, you'll love the other.
They're bouth about that serious, grown up love but they have the complete opposite begining and they're bouth from 80's.

Similar type of SoL-Romance anime. Maison Ikkoku tends to have more matured theme and Touch is more teenage-y (coming of age-like story). Though if you found Touch to be irritating, then I wouldn't recommend Maison Ikkoku since it's like 5 times more frustrating.

Touch and Maison Ikkoku are romance drama series from the 80's and share many tropes and trends that were popular at the time. Touch is probably the closest thing you're going to get to Maison Ikkoku. It tells a similar story to Maison, & has the same grounded nature of the series to boot. The series also has a similar writing style, in which side characters actually give quite a bit back to the story, & help move the plot along. If you've just finished Maison Ikkoku, & want something similar to it, yet it brings its own flavor, Touch is what you're looking for.
