More so the relationship, and it is a rather odd one, but they are powerful given the context of both worlds, and the means to part in such untimely fashion is rather glum. It's not just there for show either, the general acclamation suggests these relationships be as powerful as normal anime would be too.
They are good shorts that focus on relationships, Rain Town takes into account the atmosphere and Kanamewo, you have to do some context digging to grasp it entirely.
