Both is about getting into the music industry. Difference is that Uta no Prince-sama is boy band(idol) while Kaikan Phrase is a band(rock band or something like that). Then there's also a composer in both. Kaikan Phrase has romance is the lovey dovey kind in the later half while uta no prince-sama romance is not obvious. More like other kind of reverse harem since it is from a game. Okay idk if i'm making sense but you'll understand me if you watch them both.

same genre, same theme, Girl falls for boy except in Uta no prince-sama the guy is an idol where as kaikan phrase the boy the lead girl falls for is a rock star and she composes music for him. Sooo its very much similar with slight differences but totally worth the watch (:
