Although I would consider Battle Angel the superior of the two, they have a similar flare.
Both have the same screenwriter (Akinori Endo), and in both cases, the action takes place in the near future. Both are a classic cyberpunk of the last century. Both raise again philosophical questions that will arise in the near future like "It looks like a human, it behaves as a human, so why I can't call it a human?" Where this the thin line between human and cyborg? I highly recommended these to cyberpunk anime lovers. They must see both works.
Both are old school cyberpunk OVAs with a sexy cyborg heroine who is an exceptionally deadly fighter. In both anime the heroine develops emotions and a will to sacrify herself for a loved one which is more human than that of the humans around her. Both have above average cell animation.
