My personal opinion on the greatest taste in anime:
To me, the greatest taste in anime means someone who can enjoy an extremely flawed anime for what it is and also appreciate shows that are considered the cream of the crop like Lain, Eva, or LOTGH.
Of course, that's my opinion.
How I give ratings:
10= Masterpiece
9= Amazing (close to a masterpiece)
8= Very good
7 = Good
You might notice that I have a lot of shows in the 8-10 range and that's because I do not usually start shows that I am confident to give (1-5 or 6) rating. Reason being while 5= An OK anime, Life is too short to just stick with just an "OK" anime. There are more anime out there than I know what to do with and more to come.
