El diez lo considero para "obras maestras", no para mi favorito, supongo que no he llegado a ver un anime que me parezca una "obra maestra", en cuanto a favorito, este puede tener algo que me guste pero no necesariamente es una obra maestra porque puede fallar en varias cosas y aun así gustarme. No dudo que pueda llegar a ver un 10/10 y que llegue a ser uno de mis favoritos, pero hasta el momento nada. Siento que me falta ver más anime, seguro y encuentro un 10/10.

Not at all. Actually, the exact opposite. Visuals are the least important quality I value in any medium. My point was that visually is where RX dominates NGE hands down in terms of beauty. Plot, characters and theme are more debatable, but, in case it wasn't clear in the review, I thought RX did all those things better as well.

I'll use characters for an example. I get that on one level the characters represent the human subconscious (id, ego, superego). That's fine and a neat conceit. More importantly though they were also iterations of some of the character archetypes I hate the most in anime (whiny protagonist, tsundere, emotional robot girl).

Something about this presentation and the more raw emotion resonates with a lot of anime fans but for me fell flat. More than that, I absolutely hate Shinji as a character and he made the show near unbearable for me. I just could not disagree more with the show's essential assertion of what he represents and the message of his arc. But, that's just me.

As I mentioned in the RX review, I had the exact opposite reaction to their cast which had less of the raw symbolism that didn't appeal to me. In every way RX is a more polished and beautiful version of NGE that resonates with me on an artistic level. If we were to use music as an analogy, I would say NGE is the "punk music" of anime while RX was the clean studio "alternative rock" - and I'm just not a fan of punk. That's all.

I don't really like comparing NGE with RahX since they are fundamentally very different shows, many of the similarities having to do with nothing more than aesthetic choices. With that being said, I'm not the biggest fan of NGE's characters (outside of Shinji) and I thought its method of presenting information about its world was heavy handed. I like many of the ideas NGE is built around but I feel as though the execution is lacking which is what drags it down for me. It's not an anime I care much about so I'm sorry if that response wasn't as substantial as what you might have wanted.

In terms of my scores, 5/10 is an average score for me and I work up or down from there. I put very little thought into scoring anime because I don't feel like scores are good at reflecting the quality of a work. In other words I mostly use them to just give people a general idea of what I like or don't like.
