Anime & Manga I rate the series out of 10 on every review tag based on the scale below.
These ratings are shown in the tags section of the respective lists.
I take the average of these scores and round to the nearest value to get
an overall score out of 10. Although I prioritise objectivity, I find myself
being subjectively objective if that makes sense? Essentially, my personal
enjoyment plays the most part in my ratings over any objective considerations.
Anime Review Tags Story | Animation | Sound | Character | Enjoyment
Manga Review Tags Story | Art | Dialogue | Character | Enjoyment
OST, ONA & Specials Side stories, OSTs, ONAs, Specials, non-full length TV shows, or other miscellaneous
anime are rated at my own discretion based on relevance, length, context, as well as the
regular review tags. Media that is too short, is irrelevant, etc. may be left unrated. The
reasoning is always left in the tags section. All cultured anime is left unrated.
Music Types Media that is categorised as music is rated based on the same rating system but the
final scores are subtracted two points to account for the inherently different classification.
Hence, music that is scored a 5 for example, would really have the qualities of a 7.
Summary of ratings Unrated: In progress, yet to start or left unrated.
1: Pure disgust that makes me want to bleach my eyes. Practically or legitimately no
redeeming qualities. Was not satisfied whatsoever. (Torture is the only way)
2: Can I have my time back? I regret watching this. Could have one or two
redeeming qualities that made the show bearable. Usually series with terrible execution.
(Definitely not rewatching)
3: Usually a gray area that is between disgust and dislike. Somewhat better
implementation of features but still not too notable. Significant flaws throughout the
entirety of the show. (Would not rewatch)
4: Don't like it. Certain aspects were okay but generally lacking. Essentially most
shows that fell short or were simply worse than average. (Also would not rewatch)
5: Eh. I guess it was a time-killer. Not bad in production quality. The anime had
certain commendable elements but definitely areas of improvement. What I'd consider the
middle ground. (Likely would not rewatch)
6: Better than average but not "good". Equally as many strengths as weaknesses.
Several unaddressed issues such as content or pacing. (Might rewatch)
7: Solid shows. No significant mistakes or particular faults, but at the same time,
nothing too amazing. I enjoyed it while it lasted but no personal impact or food for
thought. (Also might rewatch)
8: As vague as it is, shows I would consider "great". Another gray area. Certainly
more interesting, engaging or meaningful than a "good" show but nonetheless still short
from a 9. I enjoyed this but there were still aspects that I didn't like or the impact was just
not as strong. (Would rewatch)
9: Amazing. Minimal flaws with only certain personal issues and nitpicks such as a
lackluster ending that did not deliver the final push. I really enjoyed it, but it was not meaningful
enough or I simply did not consider it a masterpiece. Highly recommend it nonetheless!
(Highly likely rewatch)
10: A masterpiece - I am complete. Anime/manga that holds sentimental value or is
masterful in its elements. The story, animation, sound, characters, dialogue, ending and
progression were all gripping and impactful. The anime is on another level and I would
adamantly recommend it. (Definitely rewatch)
Favourites: Either highly rated shows that I particularly enjoyed, or lower-rated
ones that I found to be most memorable/enjoyable :)
