Hehe, not cold blooded, just actually asexual. That stuff honestly doesn't interest or affect me (and most of it doesn't even occur to me). /shrugs.
Pssh, and there are plenty of romantically-inclined girls who wouldn't like Angel Beats, I'm sure. The 'girls mostly like shōjo and boys mostly like shōnen' seems to apply 99% of the time, but it is only a generalization. (Though I must admit that I am always surprised by the number of guys who like what I would consider to be "girly anime" and have only found one girl who would like to watch Cowboy Bebop and Trigun with me IRL despite expending too much effort. =_=)

With the" ...*ugh*.", it sounded like an opportunity for some friendly .hack fanboy banter, but I guess not. :P I used to rate really generously (mostly 8's), but I found that using the entire spectrum (1-10) really allows your list to show what you feel about quality. Even if the titles you consider critically to be the best are not the titles you enjoy the most (or vice-versa), your favorites list is right there to make up for that. It's sort of fun and dorky to think somewhat critically about anime why you watch it.

I've heard that Angel Beats is a really good anime and one of my schoolmates suggested that I watch it, but really all I know about it are from the handful of episodes I watched. It's been a while, so I don't have specifics, but I was annoyed by the characters and didn't find them to be very original or realistic. The setting/scenarios changing completely every episode annoyed me, too. I usually am hooked by whatever I watch fairly immediately, but I honestly didn't enjoy the show when I watched it at all. I figured the series just wasn't my cup of tea, so I moved on to something else.
Another friend from school who knows I'm sort of a repulsed aromantic was surprised I was even watching it. Any work with any amount of romance in it tends to really turn me away...which is annoying usually. He said that Angel Beats has romance. If so, I probably wouldn't like it at all if I picked it up again. It could totally be one of the best series ever and I have nothing against it, but I just don't see myself enjoying it in any level. I might be wrong and pick up again way later.

Hello! I'm watching Magical Detective Loki Ragnarok, and I enjoyed your review. :) I'll stream-of-consciousness my response.
I would definitely say anybody without a solid knowledge of the eddas and a few of the sagas would miss a lot of the background and nuances that make the show way too enjoyable for an otherwise critically poor anime. I'm very impressed by the writers' knowledge of Norse mythology, and it made the show much better than what I was expecting. For the point you specifically made in your review, Odin's exile of Loki is so seamless with the mythology it hardly needs explanation. That story would be hilarious if told, I'm sure, but it's almost more humorous to me for them to be left out and left my imagination wander.
You're totally right about everything else, though. Critically, the anime is probably below average. I'm surprised you even used the "action". The first time I saw the stock animation of Loki summoning his staff, I expected to see some fire magic (you know, Loki, closely related to Logi, god of fire), but all I got was some swings. The Nidhoggr episode set in Dracula's castle was beyond pathetic - why even include "boss fights" if Loki's just going to pull out a gun and one-hit kill midway through a speech five or so times? There probably wasn't a fight in the entire anime that lasted over 40 seconds.
The Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok comment made me laugh. I guess it sounded like a cool name to someone? (certainly not me.) In fact, it sounds comically corny to me. "Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok!", eugh. I wouldn't say he has to give any explanation of his superior insight just because he's a god, but I don't understand why he's involved in the "detective agency" at all. The generic pink-haired misogynistic representation of a female is hardly interesting at all. I don't know what the manga says, but how did Loki meet her and why did he stay with her? I sure wouldn't befriend her. The most attractive god in Norse mythology could surely find a decent female lead to drag around in the story.
"COULD YOU IMAGINE IF LAW AND ORDER WAS BASICALLY THE COPS BREAKING IN ON A MURDER AS HE WAS CHOPPING UP A BODY AND SAYING 'I HAD A FEELING'!!!!!!!" Yeah, that's actually been done. Have you played TES IV: Oblivion? Lol, eugh, can MAL at least remove the "mystery" tag?
"THE PINK THING THAT SITS ON LOKI'S HEAD!" - LOL I so looked at that character page myself and basically yelled the same thing. What even? How does that even qualify a description? A very informal-sounding phrase without capital letters or punctuation to describe a "character" that is seriously there to make Loki way more kawaiiiii desu~ that he needs to be. It was very comical.
Some times I don't even believe what I watch. I really just just finished a show about Puzzles(Phi Brain) and Economics(C), and thoroughly enjoyed both?
