I was always a skeptic about anime and hated it because of certain mainstream animes that ruined my perception of anime when I was a kid. But then Netflix became a thing around 2010 and after I watched a masterpiece called "Mushishi", i thought, hey maybe it's not so bad.
But I didn't start becoming a animefreak until early 2013 when I started having a lot of free time, I'd finish a series every 2 weeks or so.
After clearing so many anime series it's become clear that anime is filled with 95% shitty anime and the rare 5% that are absolutely amazing. I hate going through anime that is shitty but the good ones are just so good that it justifies shifting through the rubble.
My all time favorites are: Steins Gate, Shinsekai Yori, Mushishi, Mononoke, Princess Mononoke, Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen, and the second season of Fate/Zero. Psycho-Pass is almost up there but the ending felt a little disappointing.
I began reading a few mangas recently, probably not something I'd become obsessed with like anime but, I definitely loved Oyasumi Punpun, what a roller coaster of emotions and realism.
