When you are talking about something influential and historically important like Urusei Yatsura, those details can sometimes be more interesting than the series itself, so I like to include them so the reader has more context.
As a stand alone film, Only You is a fairly mediocre film and not really worth remembering. Urusei Yatsura on the whole however is a very significant series, and it does provide a relatively painless way of getting started with that. It is much better than the early episodes of the series, which are quite tedious to watch.
Of course this film is Mamoru Oshii's cinematic debut, so if you want to examine how he progressed as a director then it is required viewing, although he was fairly reigned in by those around him. Beautiful Dreamer is far superior from a critical perspective.
Anyway, if you like a bit of history with your reviews, then may i also plug my Daicon IV review and Urotsukidouji reviews? Both of them have historical significance, and Daicon IV is a fantastic little short.

Urotsukidouji is atrocious though.
