It won't benefit either of us if I was that "your opinion is trash" guy. If I can inform someone on something they had little prior knowledge on before then that's good enough for me. And thanks for receiving my reply with a open mind instead of shunning it away, not many can do that (especially in the anime community).
There's a difference between a show that have a few plot inconsistencies and one that's build upon a literal plot hole. Yes there's people who may hate it simply for joining the bandwagon but for those who have proper reasoning to, and trust me there's A LOT of reason to, that isn't simply "hate". I don't even hate SAO, I could care less about it, but saying that using proper reasoning to evaluate a show's value = hate is a very misguided thing to say. Kawahara admits his work is riddled to shit with plot holes and that he purposely forced the narrative around it despite knowing this. Most writers may accidentally write themselves in a corner and have no choice, but Kawahara in full awareness decided to write a bad story. That's the difference.
I didn't like SAO from 3 eps into it when it was airing and I know many others that did as well, if you were following the community (not just one side of it) you would of known this. You can't place it on simply some kind of aftermath trend, this was happening during the show's airtime as well.
I also agree with you, SAO is highly overrated but it is an enjoyable anime depending on the person. I gave the show a 9 based on my enjoyment but my actual rating for the show is 7 because of the flaws and the ALO arc.
SAO is a fundamentally flawed anime in every regard. Don't confuse people "hating" with actual criticism. You can toss this harsh criticism under the bus as "just hate" but abusing literary devices in order to justify plot conveniences still remains a fact. You don't want to hear that from people that think the show is trash? Well how about you hear it straight from the horses mouth. the creator of SAO Reki Kawahara himself even admits he didn't know what he was doing when he asspulled things. In an interview with Aniplex he openly stated the following:
"I know that the NervGear device does have its plot holes, but I just couldn't come up with a better gimmick than that." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DlE3th4VE4&ab_channel=AniplexUS
The man himself admits his show is riddled with cheap gimmicks and plot holes, what more evidence do you need?
