Penguindrum has a lot to recommend it - but only if you're into existential or esoteric stuff. It asks a lot of questions about fate, destiny, etc, and even tries to answer quite a few - but it does have its downsides. The rather pointless and slightly creepy fanservice is a detriment to the show as it's clearly only there for the sake of merchandise, and the series has a tendency towards theatrical pompousness, and can sometimes feel a little too self-important.

Aside from that it's a good show that can make you think.
