As a teenager trying to live by (emphasis on trying) manga came to me as a saviour, a saviour from awkward social encounters, a saviour from reading as the only way to gain culture, a saviour from boredom, a saviour from myself, myself as a man, as a boring, bland, uninteresting man. Manga was my first interest, my first among many, but, nevertheless, the first. I started as a boy, and as I grew up, I was afraid I'd get tired, sick of manga, that I'd look at it as everyone does, as a kids thing, but as I grew, manga seemed to grow with me as I found more and more mature mangas that blow me away by their intensity. I joined this site in hope that I'd find more people like me.
Oh, I generally don't like anime, I find it really slow-paced.
I also don't like engineering, which is what I'm studying ironically
*Update - I keep reading manga, almost daily. I now like engineering quite a lot. I still don't like anime. Checkout my Instagram @gudjamanga where I share diverse manga snippets

Cowboy bebop doesn't have overall story except the last few episodes so,in a way, it doesn't surprise me that you didn't like it ( although it's still a great series nonetheless ).
Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood ( Consistent quality, great pacing for a 64 episode anime. Definitely worth your time )
Kaiji ( bizarre artstyle but this one holds your attention i can guarantee you that )
Perfect blue ( it's a movie , a mindfuck one. Won't let you get bored that's for sure )
Cowboy bebop ( it's a classic for a reason. You won't waste your time with it )
There are plenty more but for now these are good for beginners.
Gunka no Balzar, Nobunaga no Chef.
I'm a failure
