Seriously, what's with the degrees and people never using them, self included. I have one for environmental management, and I started one in law (and just stopped going to class, because law is depressing). People end up working in weird fields after they get qualified.

My favourite part about "Dimension W" is the writing, perhaps the director and screenwriter helped things, 'cause I remember the inconsistent pacing in "Darker Than Black" which took my out of the show (and is the reason I haven't watched the second season yet). The over-sexualized bits are passable to me, especially since Mira's character has improved into the final arc and she's quite badass. Only quibble so far is that they introduced a "new" foe coming to the end, though they try to wave him off by having him be a character from the past. *sigh* So I definitely think this is a YMMV thing, (lol)

In the mood for some science fiction, so going to watch the second season of Sidonia no Kishi.

Sound!Euphonium strong points are the performances, you could basically just watch those on Youtube and be satisfied.( I still do) There chemistry between the two main girls was also very good.

HaruChika is more character-driven. Haruto is the brains, and Chika-chan is the brawn, and they relentlessly try to find people for their band for their teacher (the conductor). They're just adorably hilarious to watch, and each episode has a little mystery to it. But I do remember the first episode being slow, it improves. As does the comedy, and each episode is contained with steady plot progression.

I never wanted to be a teacher, but a few of my friends are, so I know the insanity. Though they teach secondary school (high school) which is a different brand of crazy . My second nephew (he's 9) is a nerd (he describes himself as such) so it's fun listening to his stories while I help him with homework. I used to help my cousins too when I was younger. Things are so much easier now with technology though.

I tried to get them all into anime, but no dice, They even prefer Regular Show over Gravity Falls! The tragedy! T_T
They were really into Beyblade (and still like Power Rangers) so I'm holding out hope.

Are you watching "Dimension W"? It's interesting from a sci-fi perspective since it presents a world where the energy crisis has been solved. The writing though is my favourite part, the plot progresses at this steady pace and it's just makes me strangely happy (because I'm insanely neurotic), I think that may just be subjective though. Barakamon was so good, I gave it a 10, loved everything. I knew the prequel was coming out, so I'm glad to hear that the author keeps up the charm.

HaruChika is adorable and funny, it's about two childhood friends who are re-united in highschool and their adventures with trying to get their school's brass band off the ground. They want to do it for their teacher who they both have a crush on, so it's cute to watch them compete, their personalities are similar though very different and it's nice to watch kids who aren't too damaged by life just make other people's lives better not through big feats but just by being themselves. People are more cheerful just by knowing them.

My second niece was born yesterday and she's very cute. Kids are okay in small doses for me, but I like the ability to come home to myself. I get told I should be a teacher a lot, since I'm a nerd, but teaching seems really tiring. I thought you were a teacher, or is that something you do to support the dream (sci-fi writer)? If you've anything published I'd love to read it, as a fan of the genre it's always awesome to see new talent coming out.

I'm an aunt several time over, my older sister has 3 boys and my younger brother has 1 girl with another on the way (this week, lol). I've never felt the urge to reproduce. Kids for me seem like a huge responsibility and basically take all your time, I'm way to selfish to even consider it.

Now that I'm older no one questions it, but when you're a young woman there's some real societal (and familial) pressure to marry and have kids. I suppose part of it is a subconscious human need to propagate the species.

"Colorful" got a 10 from me, and a lot of tears. It touched close to home. I loved "Your Lie in April", the set-up was clichéd, but Arima was such a great character. Turning his pain into artistic fuel. In a real way it reflected on the composers of the past, since a lot of them also had abusive backgrounds. I thought it did a good job considering the ages of the characters.

"NGE" is probably my all time fav for showing kids with a variety of issues, it doesn't run from them destroying themselves, it takes a real (considering the show) approach to the emotional baggage that comes with growing up. At least for me. I watched it first when I was the same age as the characters, and take the time to watch it again as I get older to see how my feelings change.

That "Gansta.'s" studio fell apart makes tragic sense now. I'd like to see something like it again, but obviously better done. I did watch "Charlotte" and enjoyed it, especially the MCs character growth. SAO also didn't do a bad job with handling PTSD, it's not subtle, but it tries to show the change in Kirito over the seasons. But I know what you mean, one of the main reasons that I haven't watched "Naruto" is how the characters are portrayed. After all Naruto's abuse and loss, he becomes the Hero and is praised (by the same asses that abused him as a weak child). Sasuke's character arc makes more sense for me, and then he's exiled. I really hate Konoha (their village) so very much and wanted it destroyed.

I'm glad Shimoneta has a following, especially since the show carries an important anti-censorship message, I was just complaining about the obnoxious loli. I'll finish it, if only to see if she gets her comeuppance.

Are you watching Haruchika? It's really good.
wicked_liz Feb 16, 2016 10:22 AM
I'm actually less of a NEET these days since my sister needed some help with her kids. Since Prison School was good for me, I decided to watch "Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai" (long-ass title of doom), I should probably rethink my decision making policy >_>.

The jokes are stale, but they're supposed to be, and there was some good humour. That they kept re-using to make sure you get sick and tired of it as fast as possible. Then they introduce a bitchy loli, because of course. This character brings nothing new to the plot and only serves to really just piss me off.

I've seriously lost the will to finish shows that just go nowhere. Like "Gangsta." - started so cool with an original hearing-impaired character. Who was also addicted to uppers. And on his way to a violent death. Like all the other depressing characters in the show. I'm good with despair, but if it's just pointless nihilism for the sake of style then no.

Only reached episode 11 of Osomatsu-san (the Christmas one XD). Probably catch up with it today...?
wicked_liz Feb 13, 2016 2:32 PM
LOL! Osomatsu is a total sociopath, when he just shows up with that simple smile you know everything is going to get wrecked XD

*facepalm* Her name isn't Hikari, it was Hiyori. This is how basic that character type is for me. *sigh*

I can confirm Prison School having a female fanbase (if only for myself). I'm usually too vanilla to care either way but I admit the show appealed to my S-side. But while the ecchi is obviously overdone (for comedy) the real strength of the show is the comedy, It's mostly just ridiculous humour and is all clearly fantasy. Strangely enough, in a lot of ecchi shows, the girls are objectified for a male's fantasy, in this while it is the same the girls are all so much stronger than the guys that they don't feel like hollow sex objects. You root for the boys because they're that pathetic.

The characters never feel real, or even interesting in GodEater, they're wafer people. But I liked it still (probably the music and the fight scenes, which become somewhat interesting). The story is basically Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (the revenge!)...which also explains why I like it XD
wicked_liz Feb 11, 2016 11:08 PM
Karamatsu is hilarious, he tries so hard XD

I think I like Choromatsu, since he's the 'normal' one, well, he had a job. And Ichimatsu cause he's loveable.

"Noragami" was a miss for me (sorry), it had all the superficial elements, but the story *gah* I also loathed Hikari and her story line. My fav characters were Kazuma and Bishamon, and I kept watching for them. I'll still watch it if they do a third season, but I have no love for Yato and Hikari.

"Kekkai Sensen" was so cool, the story fell apart in the end (I didn't like that line with the brother) but apart from that, it was a favourite. The abilities were original and Zapp was hilarious.

Bones and P.A. Works are the studios I really trust these days, everything they do is gorgeous, and usually has a good story. "GodEater" is one of the better CGI series I've seen from Japan's studios. Don't start it now though, since it's on a break *sigh*

I going to watch "Prison School" now, it looked too ecchi for me, but it's fairly well reviewed. Last season I actually enjoyed "Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry" a lot. It was so clichéd and had bad art, but the fighting scenes were lovely.
wicked_liz Feb 11, 2016 6:45 PM
My only problem with the CGI in "Ajin" is that a lot of the facial expression is lost, as a horror series the manga got popular because of it's gorgeous art and the anime style eliminates 70% of that. So it's disappointing, still fun though, and not as bad as CGI work usually are.

Subete dragged early on, the highlights really come later. The other mystery series from last season; "Sakurako-san" was way more pretentious and pissed me off. The male MC was an embarrassment to humanity (not even joking, lol).

Akagami seems the same to me, it's a definite continuation and builds on stuff already established, like Zen and Shirayuki's confession. Now that they've decided to be together, they face hardships.

Osomatsu-san is hilarious, I don't even know when I should be offended or not because it plays stuff so over the top. Konosuba is my comedy gold though, it's just epic for me. I'm saving up on Gintama too, but it's gotten really good reviews.

Haikyuu!! is still going great, such gorgeous animation. Prince of Stride (new parkour-based sports anime) isn't as cool, but the character art is at least nice to look at.
wicked_liz Feb 9, 2016 9:52 PM
Akagami no Shirayuki is so boring yet fun XD

Shirayuki is the plainest character ever, but Zen and Obi are cool and Raj is funny. Plus the art is lovely. Shirayuki's voice actually grates on my poor, fragile nerves. Also, it's been months since she cut her hair, why isn't it growing?! (it's embarrassing how much I think about this)

Last season's "Subete ga F ni Nari" was really fun to watch episode by episode, since it was a mystery series. The writing was just solid.
wicked_liz Feb 8, 2016 10:47 AM
Those seem like the best, I actually haven't started either since I haven't had a good day of focus. But tonight seems good.

I still loving "Heavy Object" and "MSG: Iron Blooded Orphans" from last season, this season I'm liking "Dimension W" and "Gate 2". Really good sci-fi shows. KonoSuba is also a brilliant comedic gem. The start is all cliché but then it's golden.
wicked_liz Feb 6, 2016 10:31 PM
Lol, I may have recently gotten older (technically) but I like to think I'm still cool T_T

I'm aware I'm probably lying to myself though XD

Despite having less free time on my hands, I've decided to watch as many airing shows as I can. I used to save shows to marathon, but I end up never watching them, so this is hopefully going to make things easier, so my Watching list is a bit ridiculous right now.

But the season has been good to me so far, I haven't seen anything completely terrible.
Rexzazel Jun 20, 2015 9:57 PM
Ugghhh Owari no Seraph....I facepalmed.
wicked_liz May 11, 2015 4:00 PM
Lol, so true. Technology just makes it easier for me to be antisocial.

I'm good, enjoying this season so far. Kekkai Sensen is really fun and high-paced, great music and so many recognisable voice actors.

Yamada and the 7 witches is also really entertaining.

Dropped "Denpa Kyoushi" because the animation was really terrible, and the writing was super cheesy too. Not even funny.
Rexzazel May 11, 2015 12:05 AM
I'm so glad you asked!

Kekkai Sensen is honestly AOTY so far. Everything about it is just so good, especially characters and music. I find myself waiting anxiously for Saturday every week. Also, it's pretty crazy that BONES was so good at adding an amazing anime original character like White, without making it weird lol.

Leo x White OTP.

What else are you really liking this season?
