Hmmm. I'll have to check it out before the new season starts. Can't have too many more titles carrying over.

So, what's your opinion on Bungou Stray Dogs? Its one of the more popular Spring anime so I'm curious. Haven't had the chance to check it out as because I have so much to catch up on as it is.

Well, lets just see what they do with the remaining three episodes. Surely it can't be any worse than what we imagine lol? I'm dying to see the rest of the Kizna Committee and what they're doing. Also, I wonder what Noriko's relation is to Urushii. Maybe she's her older sister?

I'm not invested in either Noriko or Katsuhira's characters or as love interests but their backstory does interest me and I found that to be the highlight of episode 9. I just don't see the need to hate on her because they want him to end up with Chidori. In my opinion either pairing with Katsuhira is boring but that's just me.

This series would have definitely benefited from being 24 episodes. Or at least not have the convoluted melodrama around the pairings. Doesn't even look like Hisomu will get any development... I'd have like to know what happened to make him like that.

They did have good chemistry which is why that anime did so well despite the convoluted love polygon. I mean can you think how difficult that must have been to explain to the Studio? lol

I also don't think Chidori and Katsuhira should end up together. People were also hating on Noriko because she got in the way of the Katsuhira x Chidori ship. Personally I think Chidori's feelings for Katsuhira, while executed well in terms of drama, actually brings out the worse in her character. The Nico like Tenga thing was only hinted subtly in episode 5 and 7 for like a second so I can understand why people think it came out of nowhere. It was just two really small things the animators did that made me consider it at the time but it came and went so quickly that I brushed it off. Looking back it was probably just lazily written in to set up the current melodrama situation we have here.

I like Toradora as well but I watched it in 2009 and based on what I remember it did have a lot of unnecessary melodrama once the love polygon was established. I mean think about it: Ryuuji lives next door to Taiga who likes Kitamura who likes the Student Council President who was moving away to America. Taiga was also bestfriends with Minori who Ryuuji likes but then Kitamura's childhood friend Ami comes in who starts liking Ryuuji who then starts liking Taiga who still likes Kitamura who Ami's friend Kihara also likes who Ryuuji's friend Noto likes. That's just ridiculous! I mean how is that not unnecessary melodrama lol

True, Noriko could be considered the main female character as she's no doubt the one the story follows given her past with Katushira. However, in terms of melodrama Chidori has no doubt had more time on screen than she has so as of now my money's on her. Maybe she dies because her health is poor as hinted by her injections and fainting and Chidori gets back the old Katsuhira and they get together. That honestly sounds too convenient for me to like but it's Mari Okada lol. I just hope Nico ends up okay.

Works of hers I'm familiar with are Toradora, True Tears, Canaan, Vampire Knight and Nagi no Asakura which are all HEAVILY steeped in teen melodrama. Even more so than Kiznaiver, would you believe it. And the same complicated and forced love polygons in all of them too. Some of her work are adaptations of lightnovels and manga but the melodrama is always the same so you can say she's a type-cast scriptwriter. Wow, I just realised.... Despite the complicated love polygons, the side characters always get hurt and the main male and main female usually get together thus rendering the whole love polygon as nothing but pointless drama so I shouldn't be surprised if Katsuhira x Chidori actually does happens.


Maki was never my favourite either but after this episode she's looking really appealing right now lol.

Honestly, I don't see how this can be salvaged as it's turned into another of Mari Okada's typical teen melodrama so I see one of three possibilities.

1. Their friendships are broken off permanently and they go their separate ways which would make the series pointless. They're also in the same class so I don't see how this would work unless they changed schools.

2. They clear the program but decide to start over as normal friends and the series closes with an open-ending with them promising each other to properly convey their feelings eventually.

3. The series rushes an ending with horribly underdeveloped pairings.

Number 2 seems most likely to me and it's gonna annoy me given all the forced melodrama on romance we've had to sit through. Especially around Chidori. There are three episodes left however so hopefully they can either prove me wrong or at least make something memorable out of this trainwreck.

Same here. I was looking forward to episode 8, which as implied in the preview at the end of episode 7, to shed some light on Tenga's character. That scar has been bugging me for a while now. A shame he turned out so shallow alongside Chidori. Well, there's a spinoff manga which I suspect may go into detail so depending on how well I enjoy the finale of this series I might pick it up.

It was such an interesting concept too.

Haha of course. We share sentiments on the latest Kiznaiver episode after all.
