Nice Frieren review, everything you said is true. I'm on episode 7 and nothing changes.
The show does remind me of Kino but I think it's more similar to Fumetsu no Anate e. Funny enough I think Fumetsu handles the "adventure" and "suffering" aspect better but the only problem with that show was how they kept slaughtering everyone lol
Frieren's main problem actually is the formula that they use each episode because honestly what's the point of Frieren moving on if each episode is going to be a flashback of her old companions with someone dying in both the past and present then she beats the demon and onto next episode.
Your preliminary review on Frieren is very good and understandable, but you really stopped without watching episodes 7 and 8 and called it a "cosy watch" rather than a binge. I guarantee you, I thought the same before, but episodes 7 and 8 made me think otherwise. Hopefully you watch it later on!

I wouldn't say its hard to watch but so far nothing has happened.
Fumetsu no Anate was a decent adventure and drama but like I said the constant killing off of characters was my only main issue.
