There is just something about holding a good manga in your hand that feels like nothing else. I think it's one of the reasons why I never got into those Kindles I think they're called? Literally tablets that are meant to act like books. Maybe it's my age but those things just give me a headache trying to read on. XD Oh don't get me wrong I understand that there is definitely a need for being able to read Manga online, especially for some titles that have never gotten an official English translation and have only been fan translated. Diamond Girl comes to mind for me, a manga I truly love but has yet to ever be officially translated.

Well to be honest they didn't have a whole lot of a selection on that day. I think there were only like five volumes in the store. It was the only one that was a volume one release, so I figured why not. From what I've read of it so far it is kind of just a generic romance story, but yeah it is cute. I still need to look up to see how long it is.

As for Mikami, do you happen to know if the manga has an ending to it? I guess I'm just stating the obvious here, but I really like it when a story has a nice conclusion at the end. Not to say the series was deep into the lore kind of stuff, but even for a comedy action horror title it is nice to have some resolve.

It is funny, but we live in a world now where I really do appreciate retro games more and more. True they are more simplistic compared to the modern stuff but they were actually finished back in the day. With maybe just some revisions done to them over time in separate releases to fix any bugs they didn't see coming. I think the one thing I hate about modern games these days is how unfinished a lot of the bigger titles are. With so many games needing patches just to function properly. I'm very big into game preservation, just like I am with manga and anime, so I really appreciate it when a developer releases a game as a Game of the Year edition with all the DLC and bugs taken out, all included on one disc or cartridge with no need for updates. Games definitely do look like movies these days that's for sure, sometimes it's hard for me to tell with certain titles if it's not actual real life. 😱 Series such as The last of Us come to mind.

I definitely couldn't agree more! That's the one drawback of being in this digital age, you don't really own anything and things can be taken away from you in a second. It's funny because I remember when I first subscribed to Netflix I didn't realize back then that content could actually be removed. Call me ignorant I guess because I was kind of new to it back in the day, but I kind of just assumed that all of their content would be there forever. Guess it's kind of like TV shows back in the day on cable, nothing stayed on there forever. It's one of the reasons why I enjoy buying DVDs and Blu-ray still to this day. It does make me scared because certain larger companies such as Samsung have bailed out of the market altogether because they don't see a profitable anymore to create Blu-ray players. Personally I can never see DVDs ever truly going away. Are you big into physical media for movies, TV shows and the like? I got a feeling you are. 😁

Wow! Sounds like you've had some incredible finds over in your area. I noticed you said that it's a drive to some of those locations, does that mean you live outside of a city? Just curious. I kind of am in the same boat as you when it comes to manga lists on here. For some reason I just don't like reading manga on a computer or phone, I like having the physical media in my hands. The only exception I make to this is One Piece because there are just too many volumes to fit in a house. XD Because of that I don't update my list on here either. Oh speaking of which, I was at my local thrift store a few days ago and I came across a handful of manga that they happen to have on sale. One of them was called fiance of the wizard, have you ever heard of it? So based on what you're saying it sounds like GS Makami is much better in the anime adaptation.

I see. Well if you ever do get a chance to check out that Makami game I think you're really enjoy it, it's pretty much a pickup and play style platformer. If you were into video games I'm curious, would you prefer retro or modern, or both? I think I have an idea of which one you would choose. Me I'm all about retro games, though I do dabble in a little bit of the modern stuff as well. I just feel old school media was more creative than it is today.

Very nice! It's refreshing to meet another Mal user who is into the classic stuff, especially that far back. In fact that thrift store that I was mentioning earlier had a lot of vinyl records there as well. I don't own a record player so I didn't really look into it much, but I do know there's been a resurgence in the media these past years. Never would have thought I'd see the day when it would return. It does make me wonder if CDs will ever make a comeback someday the way vinyl has. I don't know, I realize we're going more and more into a digital future, but I just can't picture a world without physical media. There is just something about being able to actually own the property and media you have, instead of it just being stored in the cloud somewhere on some server.

Sweet haul you got there! I try to search out my local thrift shops for manga when I can. I have a local library near my house that often has them, sometimes they even put them up for sale after a while. You never know what kind of hidden gems you might find. Where do you like to search for manga? Any particular spots? I've always thought about trying to hit up pawn shops for them but I've never had much luck.

I'm sad to say that I have never read the Manga version of Ghost Sweeper Makami. Sounds like they did the series justice with the anime version though. I even played the Super Famicom game from Japan. I believe there is an English translation out there if you're into gaming.

Ooooh 1920s huh? I am digging the retro vibe here! What are some of the songs?
