Me
I may not always watch the most popular anime on the shelf, but I'm watching what intrigues me and I think that's the beauty of anime - there's something for everyone. Willing to take recommendations but can't guarantee when I'll get to them as my "plan to watch" list grows faster than my completed.

My Reviews
My overall score is averaged from the 5 categories. I truncate by default (7.6 becomes 7.0) except for two circumstances; I feel it deserves to be rounded up because it is very enjoyable or it is the second in a series and is better than the first, but both averaged out to the same score. Sequels are generally compared directly to the first in the series.
You'll also notice that my enjoyment maybe high or low in reference to the other categories. I see the enjoyment category as subjective whereas the others are objective. I've seen bad anime that I somewhat enjoyed. I've also seen good anime I didn't like.
My biggest pet-peeve is a missed mark on a good concept and occasionally you'll see a review that knocks a series based on this aspect. This will almost always lead to a lower enjoyment rating. I find that a show can be enjoyable if it has good character interaction and development and if it has a good plot, but it doesn't always need to have both for me to enjoy it. Characters are more important to me.
Rewatch Value
If my review contains a rewatch value, I've seen it, at least partially, more than once. Here's how it breaks down:
High - Easy to watch more than once.
Medium - Second time around feels dull or not as good.
Low - It's very dull or unexciting the second time around.
More About Me
I came to anime and manga late in the game. While I had occasionally dabbled here and there, I really didn't start watching with any conviction until I was older. That's when I discovered
Urusei Yatsura. Ironically, shortly after I discovered it, someone said to me that the rating we give a movie or series may have more to do with when we discovered it than the series itself. That was very true. In a lot of ways,
Urusei Yatsura was more important to me because of when I discovered it. Suddenly, I had the desire to begin consuming more anime. The good ones and the bad ones. New series and classic series. It didn't matter what it was or it's notoriety, if the synopsis seemed interesting, I was bound to watch.

Yep, that's exactly what I thought happened. My memory was still fuzzy and I knew that somehow. To be honest, I never did finish UY. I watched a little over 60 episodes and wanted to go on a movie marathon. I'm sure I'll finish the series eventually, but after watching all of Ranma and watching those movies back to back to back, Takahashi's writing has just worn me down. I really like UY, but it's moments like this, where it's played off as a joke, but I don't find it all that funny. The relationship never makes progress and that's a running theme in MANY Takahashi works. With a few exceptions like Maison Ikkoku and One Pound Gospel.
I guess I understand what you're trying to say. During the initial watch, #2 comes off as more complex compared to everything else that's come before in the series. I agree, but I don't think this bothers me all that much. That's fine if it's one of your least favorites. Some people would see that as fighting words lol.
> You are correct in saying that people love the director, Mamoru Oshii more than the film itself. Most conversations I get into about the movie generally include the phrase "Mamoru Oshii is a genius" or something of that nature at some point during the conversation. While that maybe true, even genius' have their duds. Again, not saying that movie 2 is bad, just not my favorite of the series.
Completely agree with you there. This movie gets a lot of unnecessary attention because of who directed it.
The red string thing is a bit fuzzy. You might have to remind me of what that was again. A chunk of that movie does take place in a fictional world, I believe so. Is it the real life, is it just fantasy, maybe caught in a landslide, no escape from reality.
I'm glad we can agree with movie #5 being the best. I think it concludes the series in a great way and wraps it all up in a nice little bow. And it's refreshing seeing someone rank movie #2 that low. I think it's a tad overrated, but I still think it's a solid film with good directing and cinematography. It has some merit. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by mismatched. Urusei Yatsura is pretty simple, I agree. And the second film is a little more complicated compared to what you usually get from the series, but I don't see the real issue. I feel like most people love that movie because of who directed it and not the movie itself. I don't think everything directed by Mamoru Oshii is amazing. Gosenzo-sama is pretty boring.
