Hi :>
Tinybox Sep 18, 2019 4:48 PM
Thank you :)

Indeedy, nothing quite like them.

Fair enough, I've just wanted to get my hands into writing something critical for a while but never have gone through with it. I just got done using my pea-brain to write two reviews of my own and now i'm exhausted.

I think I agree with the sentiment of analysis over review but it felt really cathartic not just spewing about something to another person ad nauseam until they can't stand it anymore.

I'm excited to see what Inio will work on next. I'll probably end up re-reading Oyasumi as this anime season winds down and then move towards DDDD. In general i'm excited to find more manga, I feel I've only scratched the iceberg.

I'm also going to bite the bullet and start writing reviews, have wanted to for quiet a while but lacked the confidence. Would you ever write a review for something?
Tinybox Sep 16, 2019 8:53 PM
I need to get back into it, I read a page or two but got distracted and put it down. When's your guess for when it'll end? Punpun was about 5 so can guess about 5 as well?

The art in Dead Dead was super striking from what little I read.

I'm cautiously excited for it too hoping they stick the landing.

It's a high priority when I've gone through the shows I have downloaded.

Ah, just assumed they were all OVA format, didn't even realise there were 4 movies, now i'm interested.

Thank you thank you. What's your favorite and the tie for second?
Tinybox Sep 15, 2019 6:42 PM
I really should re-watch LWA, it's fantastic. Really wish Trigger would pump the creative quality on their shows, i'm starting to lose faith they'll go through a creative boom like that again.

I've been slacking so hard that I've had Princess Tutu on my watching list for over a year and have never gotten round to it, hopefully changes in the next few months.

I've seen the first Tamayura OVA and was surprised how much I'd enjoyed it. K-On! is basically the holy grail of CGDGT to me and I barely go into those types of shows expecting to be impressed but Tamayura did just that.

There's also like 50 OVA's of it so I should binge them when I can.

As a footnote, I've swapped to a different anime/manga list template that shows the tags on shows more prominently so i'm hoping it'll help get across my feelings about certain anime/manga!

(Also I've bit the bullet and started re-reading Solanin, I might add it to my favorites when i'm done with it again, I'd completely forgotten how much it made my eyes water.)

I totally get where you're coming from. I've started setting dedicating a set time to listen to music or watch films, helps alleviate stress when i'm not multitasking 4 different things.

Oh neato! What've you gone through so far?
Tinybox Sep 14, 2019 11:33 PM
Exactly! I'm glad I have friends that share the same sentiment and enjoy media as much as I do, wasn't the case a few years ago.

I was in the same boat until recently, only getting back into the swing of things after a hiatus, watched too many lackluster shows and burnt my enthusiasm for a bit.
Tinybox Sep 14, 2019 10:29 PM
At this point I use the scoring system to sort the things I've watched, if I were to take the scores away my list would be a mess (or at least I feel). On the flip though, I might not agree with the score I've given something after reflection, conflicted whether or not to ditch the system after all this time. Might do it tonight, will probably flip a coin I over stress about small things like this haha.

I think that if there was a way to type a short review of sorts under the score I wouldn't be so conflicted, I did that a fair bit with the PocketMAL app but it's since been taken down due to the API. I also think adding a decimal system would be beneficial (9.9, 9.5 etc).

They were highlights for me, it's about what I imagined the song sounding like, hurt so good. I really should re-read Solanin, craving it now. I need to read more manga in general, i'm slacking hard.

Art is subjective but throwing a number onto something makes that stance objective as you're assigning a value to it which I didn't necessarily do before using this website, so I agree with you, was just going over my old thought process. I've always been one for conversation and not rating things usually leads to interesting ones, for instance if you've seen a show but haven't rated it i'd be curious to see what you thought, hence our entire conversation.

Differing mindsets make it interesting, it'd be boring if we agreed on everything.

If you go into it with lofty expectations you're bound to be disappointed. I enjoyed it more than I had anticipated but I went in not expecting too much, was pleasantly surprised though.
Tinybox Sep 14, 2019 8:15 PM
I try to be as objective on scores as I can. I enjoy Overlord but I wouldn't necessarily give it a high score just based on enjoyment alone. But if you were to ask me what I enjoy about it I could go on for quite a bit, junk food isn't good for you but I like eating it.

It's funny you say Solanin because it got a live action adaptation that I thought was pretty well done. PunPun however could never be adapted (sucessfully at least) and I don't think any animation studio would be up to the task.
Tinybox Sep 14, 2019 7:28 PM
When I joined the site I felt that I had to rate the shows i'd seen beforehand and as I went on it just became habit, in normal conversation with friends I usually just to explain my enjoyment or disinterest with something, trying to get back to that.

I honestly don't think an Asano work could even feasibly be adapted, the only person I can think of that could direct something like Solanin or Oyasumi PunPun would be Satoshi Kon, rest his soul.
Tinybox Sep 14, 2019 6:26 PM
That's the problem with the numeral rating system, I did enjoy my time with Girls' Last Tour and Houseki no Kuni contrary to the score. I may stop rating shows at some point, takes away some of the enjoyment of explaining what you enjoy about the media you consume.

I'm about the same, most manga I get into is because the adaptation impressed me, it's rarely the other way around. I enjoy my moving pictures haha.
Tinybox Sep 14, 2019 2:04 AM
Will have to give it a shot at some point.

Can't say you haven't piqued my interests with your vivid explanations will have to toss more onto my watching pile!

I feel as though i've seen far too little manga to understand my tastes completely as I do with anime which is a problem i'm trying to actively conbat, but the things I enjoy I enjoy vehemently, Aoi Hana is one of those things, can't recommend it enough.

I'm most likely to pick up YagaKimi when/if it ends soon or if there's not another season in the works (fingers crossed).

What do you believe the best adaptation to be?
