I recognize that despite loving the same medium that is anime, I can clearly see we have different tastes. That is totally fine and I respect that, everyone has their own interests after all. The primary reason I gave FLCL a 10/10 score is simply that I really enjoyed every second of it. I think the pacing of the show is fairly unique and not something many other shows try. As it's only six 30 minute long episodes, there is literally no filler and everything goes by fairly quickly, it's not something everyone would enjoy but it's something I appreciated. The animation and soundtrack are both phenomenal. I think the almost constant switching of the animation style suits the show to a T, as does the wonderful music written and performed by The Pillows, which remains one of my favorite soundtracks. I also tend to adore shows that aren't totally clear cut about their story or message. Seeing as how FLCL can come of as confusing and convoluted on it's first watch it's no wonder that I was intrigued enough to watch it a second time. And then a third, before it ended up on the favorites. The story of Naota maturing and growing as a person, coming to realize that being and "adult" doesn't mean being cool headed and stoic is not obvious on it's first watch. I think thats a good thing. There are plenty of shows that handle this same type of story in a much more serious manner, but FLCL manages to be pure fun the whole way through and I've continued to love it every single time I've rewatched it.
