I tend not to watch stuff unless I'm pretty sure I'll like it, so my scores trend high.
Rating scheme:
1-3 - generally worth it if i'm in a B-movie kind of mood
4 - just mediocre. Not bad, good, or significant enough to be worth watching/reading at all.
5 - worth watching/reading once. examples--might be of historical value but something I find very deeply flawed, or else enjoyable for fulfilling a particular niche but generally failing to evoke real emotions or depth
6 - enjoyable in a niche that appeals to me more but not something I'd recommend more broadly--or vice versa, something I can find some merit in but don't enjoy that much.
7-8 - something I'm very likely to revisit multiple times if i'm in a particular mood for it. Includes things that reflect immense strengths in certain areas but defecits in a number of others.
9-10 - genre-defining/revolutionary and exceptionally enjoyable to watch, a strong personal favourite due to my own tastes, or just plain classic. Has flaws like anything else, but the strong points vastly override them.
Nice to see someone pointing out that Cardcaptor Sakura doesn't solely have value for it's nostalgic purposes.
My first experience with CCS was a few years ago as an adult and I loved it.
Another recent review on here suggested that Sakura's growth as a character wasn't enough, that it had to be on par with someone else.
Because Sakura- an elementary school girl needs to be compared to Ash Lynx- a sexually abused, NY gang dealing teen male. WHAT lol.
