thanks a lot for recommending me Chihayafuru. I absolutely LOVED IT. Chihya was such a great person. I never imagined that that show would be soo intense. Thanks for recommending it to me again. That show made it straight into my Top 5 =)
Oh and it looks like I passed you in terms of already watched animes ^^
Hope to hear you soon, bye bye and take care =)
All the best
Ben
Could I interest you to join our club?
Don't sweat it, I've also overlooked some messages on Mal from time to time xD
I'm glad I told you about my Anime preferences for this season. I like how you evaluate Anime shows in a more critical way. I gotta admit that when it comes down to rate an Anime, I tend to overlook some of the mistakes of the show and only rate how much fun I had with it. Moreover my ratings also depend on the genre I'm watching. For example, I can't compare One Piece to Clannad After Story. If I remember correctly I gave Clannad AS a 10 and One piece a 9. Does that mean that clannad is better than One Piece? Well for me, no. Those two are completely different, so I rate them by comparing them to other shows of the same genre. I gave One Piece a higher rating than Naruto Shippuden. Do I think that OP is better? Yes, I do xDD
That's also why I normally don't rate a show below 6, because most of the time I'm having fun watching these shows. But you rate them a bit more sceptical, I like that
To be honest, I would consider your way of watching Animes (1 episode/week) to be the "right one", if at all there's a right way xD But I love it to experience it a more intense way. It's easier for me to associate with an anime when I watch it in one go ^^
Concerning Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru, that was probably the first and only show that caught my attention when I looked up the Anime shows for this spring season. All the other shows where recommended to me. xD The synopsis sounded really interesting, and it's current rank also shows that people seem to like it. I'll probably start watching it these days, because I think that the last episode will come out this week. But maybe I'm just mistaken ^^
I also didn't really watch Gintama. There's just too many episodes and there are literally loads of other Animes that I wanna watch beforehand. But I've seen quite a bunch of clips and outtakes of the show, and the parodies that I didn't miss were hilarious ^^
For now I'm watching Zero no Tsukaima, and I'll prbably also continue the second season of To Love Ru. Since I'm not feeling too well lately, I'm craving for light entertainment (you gotta enjoy this kind of shows from time to time )xDD
I'm really sorry to hear that you have to undergo a big surgery. I really hope everything will turn out fine. It's a shame though that it takes place in your holiday season.
Nervertheless I hope that you and your husband have time to enjoy some Anime shows (it sure must be nice to share that hobby with your partner ^^). Whenever you wanna talk about a show, please feel free to write me. I'd be glad to hearing your opinion.
See you soon!
I hope it's nothing serious and that you gonna be fine =)
I'm also looking forward to Bakemonogatari and I am very interested how Shaft is going to apply the light novels this season. As far as AMVs go, I used to watch them a lot, though most of the time I watched shonen AMVs like One piece, or Bleach. But lately I haven't wactched that many (mostly because I fear they might spoil something of a show I haven't watched yet. That happened to me with Clannad AS xD)
I didn't know that AMV "Into the Labyrinth. It's extremely well done and manages to catch very intense moments of the show. Though, I'm sure if I'd show that AMV to someone who hasn't watched Bakemonogatari, I'm sure that person would get a completely different first impression from what the show is really like. Don't you think? ^^
Concerning Shingeki no Kyojin I'm almost angry at myself that I watched it this early. Normally I wait for a show until it's finished and then watch it in one go. I can much more relate to the Anime and the characters in that way, to make things short: It's much more intense. Unfortuantely I let myself get carried away by the enthusiasm of the other people. Moreover I started to read more and more spoilers in forums and clubcomments, so eventually I decided to watch it so that I can at least take part in these "discussions". As for other shows from this season, there are some that sound interesting to be honest. I'll definitely look into Hataraku Maou-sama!; Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru; SuiseinoGargantia. Maybe also OreImou but I'm not so sure. Lately I'm more in the mood for the funny stuff, so I hope that these shows won't dissapoint me. ^^
Before I started Gundam 00 I also had only watched Gundam Wing (and I really loved that one!) Not being that much of a Mecha fan I still thought I might give it a try. And if your husband liked Gundam Wing, he'll love Gundam 00. The story is very similar, but a bit more mature and of course the animations are a lot better now. Like I already said, from the second half of the first season on I was glued to the screen ^^ I hope you find the time for this great show :D
One Piece is great! I started to watch it 10 years ago (that time I watched it in my native language). A few years ago when I started to watch Japanese dub I watched One Piece again and I really loved it. I guess I even watched it two times in a row xDD
If you like these funny parts you should definitely look into Gintama. That show is so hilarious. Moreove it's even more awesome for a seasoned Anime watcher like yourselve because there are so many parodies of popular Animes. xDD like this one-->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJG9-Zq9Ihw&list=PLBBBvoE3mLgzl18Pbn9eXWnbwq8L3VeE7&index=138
I'm sorry, again I wrote far too much. But Like you said, I'm also very happy to finally have someone to talk about Animes and that on a more refined level ^^ To be honest, that was the main reason why I joined MAL. As you might remember I started an Anime dicussion forum topic in the Neighbourhood Club, but it didn't work so well xD
With that being said I hope we can write each other more frequently about Animes. I'd be very happy to do so =) See you soon
Nice to hear something from you again ^^ I'm doing well, thank you. And you?
Now that finals are over I really picked up my "Anime watching pace" xD
As I told you, it took me also some time to get into the Bakemonogatari series. The first 5 episodes were somewhat difficult to watch (mostly because I was tired but that's a different story ^^). In the end I really liked Bakemonogatari. The same goes for Nekomonogatari: Kuro. Nisemonogatari however was a two edged sword for me to be honest. I really really liked the first half or story arc of Nisemonogatari. The introduction of the antagonist Kaiki Deishu was really well done and the scene were Araragi meets him for the first time is quite memorable ^^ The second half was not bad, but as you said the ecchi part or the incestous part was a bit too present for my taste. Let's see how the next season will do. It will start on July 7th =)
Shingeki no Kyojin is a great watch. Viewed from a purely objective point of view the show gives you everything: drama, shocking plot twists, some action, it shows (more or less realistically) that humans are not on the top of the food chain anymore and that they live in these walls in order to survive. The horror and the initial impotence of that situation are also very well depicted. It does all that with a high standard. That was the objective point of view. Unfortunately me, I didn't get the chills when watching the show. It's probably because I usually take some time to get into a show, mpw more so than ever because I'm really chainwatching quite a few shows right now. And when i finanlly started to get into it, I reached the last episode xD
I don't know if you've read it in the neighbourhood club forum. but I posted something in there about Mobile Suit Gundam 00. If you have the time, you should definitely give it a try. The story was good and plausible and keeps you glued to the screen from the second half of the first season. I loved the character development in particular especially after the first season. The ending was really satisfying. It's been a long time since i've been that content about an ending of an Anime.
Puh, sorry for this wall of text. I hope you don't mind ^^ i just enjoy, disussing anime with you. Have a nice time, and I look forward to hearing from you again.
Bye bye
I just finished another 5 episodes/two story arcs and now I got to admit that I really got into Bakemonogatari. Maybe it's because I got used to the show, or maybe because I wasn't as tired as yesterday. Or maybe a mixture of both xD
Anyways, it's become quite intersting and I'm starting to like the aspects of the show that bothered me before. I can't decribe it very well, it's just that I got used to it, I guess. Maybe you'll also enjoy the show to a further degree.
With that being said, have fun and see you around ^^
I've got to admit that I've mixed feelings for bakemonogatari. It quite different from what I expected and now I understand why the synopsis and the reviews didn't make sense to me. I've also finished the snail episodes yesterday and I can't really say whether I really liked it or not because I was really tired from studying (still one week to go before everything is done xD) and as you said there's a lot going on simultaneously. The witty dialogues, those interesting and uncommon camera shots, those little texts which only last for 2 seconds and so on. I really had a hard time following all of that while almost falling asleep (not because of the show but because of my study marathon xD)
For now I can only say that it's different (by any means). Different from what I expected and different from what I've seen up until now. But I'm definitely gonna finish it ^^
Yeah I noticed that it's the same voice actor ^^ I also think that he is also the voice actor of the main character from Angel beats.
Just like you said, the main reason I joined this club was to discuss Anime because that's something I can't usually do with my pals at the university. That's also the reason why I started the Anime discussion thread in our club, though it's not doing as good as I hoped it would do, even though it could have been worse. So I'm always glad to hear your opinion on a show and really I really appreciate it that you always take part in these discussions :)
Regarding Angel Beats, I was (again like you said) a bit underwhelmed after the first few episodes. I'm really glad to hear that the show gets more serious and emotional during the second half and that it will handle these changes well. However I never expected it to be as good or sad as clannad AS, which by the way you definitely have to watch ;)
I know some people tend to dislike it since they loved one of the characters (trying to be vague since spoilers), but considering what the character was really doing all this time, I thought it was well built upon and not out of nowhere. The events that happened afterwards is expected of one of the characters due to to the shock that had happened, which while it was dark, it was still enjoyable.
How are you doing by the way ^^
