that's a fantastic interpretation, it makes a tonne of sense to me!

I was mostly just so sad watching EOE because of what happened to Misato so that ended up souring me for the whole movie at first 🤣 watching it for the second time was like watching a different movie and now I appreciate everything about it. it was also disappointing to me at first because I really loved the finale for the series, but now I understand that they don't cancel each other out. it sounds weird, but I have a lot of respect for works that challenge me and elicit strong emotions (good or bad): that's why I'm a fan of School Days. or... maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment!

you'll get more out of the links if you're familiar with the show, I think :) on one of my many rewatches I read the essay after each episode and that was a pretty fun way to watch.

I can definitely understand what you mean! Utena is something that gets even better on a rewatch but there are definitely things that I still don't understand. I was the same way when I first watched The End of Evangelion, I didn't really know what to make of it because I was in shock and didn't understand a lot of what happened. but, when I rewatched the show and then EOE again, it all came together. as you can probably tell, I love works that give the viewer a lot of questions!
