That's exactly the point, even Oshi no Ko, the show everyone just loves to hate nowadays, takes the time to describe the entertainment industry, and the audience all the while providing an actual story for the characters.
As much as I like My Dress Up Darling, it's kind of disappointing that they didn't take the time to explore this hobby that Gojo is obsessed with, yet it plays off as a quip for the character to stand out with.
I think the more niche the hobby is, the less likely the story would take the chance to describe the details of the hobby. In some way, it kind of works, but it really makes the character detail being left much more to be desired, and makes us raise a question... How the hell do they like this guy, if he doesn't take the time to talk about his interests other than his love interest? They look like trophies made to be held by the heroine.
Quite a nice review you did for Yamada, simple but concise. I came to tell you how much I appreciate that review describing a dull and bland romance show Yamada truly was. It's not trying to explore the lives of gamers, it's more interested in having a relationship with gamers. This is a man whose life is a professional gamer. Oh, look! A hot gamer! So cool. Yet, this man's lifestyle does not get clapped on for doing such a thing and seems to not be given cared about by anyone, even his close friend.
I mean I had a lot more frustration with this show, but I was unable to think of the words to fully describe what a bland anime it was.
I agree with your review on Rifle is Beautiful. rifle shooting doesn't exactly make for a good story, so you would think they'd lean into the moe more than anything else. But nope, i felt very underwhelmed finishing the show
i just wanted to comment that we share a lot of scores for anime and manga in common :). keep up the reviews as well, i tried out the first episode of "fairy gone" because i saw your review for it, it was a show that initially peaked my interest when i saw its trailer before it released but it completely slipped my mind to watch it, i decided to watch it yesterday just to see how bad it was and my god was it atrocious.
