I kinda believe there's a sort of "collective unconscious" even in Tex, as the obelisk erected in the center of Lux. There is already a pretty good analysis here, https://hanagasaitayo.wordpress.com/2017/12/01/review-analysis-texhnolyze/ , even if I am more interested in the similarities with SEL. I still hope to see Despera, sooner or later. Konaka on twitter said the project "isn't dead". https://twitter.com/yamaki_nyx/status/1230535013583577089
THAT'S ME? :D
I could provide even more question if you want, since I am rewatching it XD
BTW, rewatch Texhnolyze, that anime is better than you think.
So Lain was indeed made by Eiri through psi energy (the same energy the Knights use to manifest in the real world the evil lain and to trap Mika), and Eiri final purpose was giving her a self consciousness, an Ego through the body, and then kill it, forcing her in the Wired, where he was God! Also, in the final episode the "blue" Lain said the Wired wasn't enough to contain the entire C.U.
Great analysis as always. I hoped you made one for Texhnolyze too. But I see you didn't like it as much as Lain.
PS. Happy Xmas even if I am late :)
I am pretty busy looking for SEL-ish manga right now. Eden has very good drawings, and a mixture of a lot of different genres in it (from comedy to war, cyberpunk, scifi, mafia, ...even sex and drugs). It's heavily inspired by gnosticism, but it has some characters that reminds me of Lain. I am also reading Ultra Heaven, a manga set in a future where drugs are legally sanctioned and follows the addict Kabu's experiences as he tries a drug called "Ultra Heaven" and experiments with devices called amplifiers. It's very psychedelic and has a large part on existentialism. But I still have to finish it. Gonna check your suggestion too! I really want to find something similar to SEL, my favorite anime :)
Your lain explained video is still the only video I have found on the web that explain what actually happened in the story
