Ello.
There's not really much to say about me: I live in a small town, lead a small life, etc. I know 2 languages (English, obviously & Bulgarian) & I'm currently in the process of learning 2 more (Spanish & Japanese) My day consists of reading (a lot), drawing, eating (a lot), sleeping (a lot), studying (watching TV with an open textbook), watching 80's movies & other things that would bore you. I'm in love with The 1975 & Bastille.
I like Final Fantasy, reading John Green books, complaining about most people & humanity's evolution. This has been your average teenage angst description.

yeah, would agree, there are a ton of genres and not only that but a crap ton of sub-genres, like take shoujo for example, the difference in the types of high school romances alone is kind of large, all sorts of different types ... As for my most hated manga ... I can't recall the one I hated the most but I do know that the most recent one that I read and hated was a manga called Fujoshi Kanojo (Fujoshi = fan of Yaoi), the concept was amusing enough, having a girlfriend that was a fan of Yaoi but honestly didn't like the female character at all ... She was one of the worst girlfriend I have ever seen in a manga ...
Anyways yeah, I'm always happy to chat, though might take a bit of time to reply since I have finals coming up in two weeks so my schedule has sort of gotten more busy, and also the last bit about masterpieces becoming average, I couldn't agree with you more on that one XD...
As for Kaichou wa maid sama, I liked it at first ... but like you, after reading some others it's now kind of "average" for me, I mean I definitely still consider it worthwhile to read, but ... It isn't one of my "favorites" ... As for Dengeki Daisy, the progress in that is pretty slow if not mistaken but it was good, I guess, if I remember correctly though it is kind of on the same level as Kaichou (not a bad thing, just again not one of my favorites)
As far as me reading shoujo ... 4 years ago I probably would have thought the same thing about reading it but then I went through a romance phase after reading a huge amount of action and just found shoujo/josei to be better as far as romance goes ... As for Shounen ... Never really liked most of the mainstream shounen (except I guess for One Piece), dunno, just found things like Naruto and Bleach to be kind of repetitive ... and as for Harems ... I went through a phase of about 6 months where I liked them like 6 years ago ... but ever since have hated the since they are just carbon copies of one another and kind of dull.
haha don't worry about asking a ton of questions either, really not too much of a problem to answer, as for other genres ... hrmmm Well I like Romance as long as it's in shoujo/Josei (their are a few good seinen romances too but the majority have a "pathetic salary man" male lead and "innocent idol" female lead that kind of gets too ... annoying), I also like Seinen action/adventure quite a bit. Those are probably my biggest two likes (can't really say which I like better since it's hard to compare them, I like them each for different reasons so...)
As for genres I dislike, Ecchi/Harems (so repetitive), Reverse Harems (same reason), NTR (In case you don't know what NTR means, it's basically when the significant other of the main character cheats on them and usually does so in order to cause them pain ... its worse than just cheating and usually makes you feel pretty crappy after reading ... really advise never reading these although they aren't too common, only found an instance of this in seinen actually), Yaoi (nothing against homosexuality, in fact I do believe that since it isn't a choice it shouldn't be any more discriminated against than things like ethnicity or gender however I myself would rather read romance with girlxguy), Yuri (same reason), Tragedy (ok w/ tragedy sometimes ... just prefer for it not to be a tragedy), Mecha (like fight scenes but not in mechas)
Also I should mention that for Romance I tend to like series that A) The couple get together earlier on, B) No love triangle/harem (this ties in to A since if their is a love triangle/harem the couple doesn't get together till later), C) Prefer it to be over 20 chapters (but very lenient on this) D) Not a tragedy ... So it should probably be noted that when I recommend a good shoujo/josei it most likely will fall under this, but not always.
Finally I remembered you asking for manga/anime similar to Soul Eater, I would start by recommending Blood Lad, it has a very similar world ... The two are very similar, I think Blood Lad is actually being adapted in to an anime this Summer so you could wait for that if you want to watch it instead. Also when you finish Koukou Debut lemme know and I can tell you a few others like it. But anyways I'm glad you liked it and feel free to come to me for recs any time, as long as I know of any I am always willing to help ^_^
As for finding them ... after alot of nudging my sister finally convinced me to read shoujo (used to only read action) since I wanted romance that wasn't a harem/ecchi ... which isn't even really romance ... so I think I read either Kaichou wa Maid-sama or Dengeki Daisy first, after than I read manga like Kimi ni todoke, but then I stumbled across Saruyama! and Koukou Debut and LOVED those two ... after that kept on reading some, when I found Mars ... which I read like a year ago, and loved that ... kind of started with shoujo over the last two years, and started reading manga in general about 4 years ago, before that had like 3-4 years of solid anime watching.
As for how I find them, it kind of varies, sometimes recommended, however usually either A) use the recommendations tab after reading a good manga that MAL provides, B) go on mangafox, go to the directory and just click on the genre I'm interested in or C) if I wanna be more specific I'll just search the site and include genres I want and exclude genres I don't want then just scroll through ...
thank you :)
As for when, anytime is good, just wondering if that is the type you like so that I can determine what kind of shoujo you like since they kind of vary...
As for the first manga I ever read and loved ... hrmmmm ... hard to think back on it, The first manga I ever read was Yu Yu Hakusho, though didn't really love it once I had read other manga (used to buy manga before I figured out they were online) ... but I think the first I read and loved would have to be Samurai Deeper Kyo probably ... As for once I really got in to manga that would have to be Berserk (which btw is a horror/action manga but it is pretty dark and definitely contains mature content so just be ready for that if you ever decide to read it) ...
Also was surprised to hear they didn't have Koukou Debut on Mangareader so did a quick search and they do right here ... however I am not sure how the site works off of a smart phone so I wouldn't know if maybe it just isn't accessible on the smart phone version.
But aside from all of that, I strongly recommend you try out Koukou Debut, it is a great shoujo and one of my favorite of what I would consider "pure shoujo" ... Basically the stereotypical shoujo with a high school romance, and rather sweet, not too dark or stuff like that... Anyways that is a good starting point for diving in to shoujo romances, if you do get to reading it let me know what you think and I might be able to help (my two biggest categories of manga read are shoujo and seinen action, literally worlds apart, but that is where I could probably help you most)
So ... The list is quite long but in the Table of Contents (which should make it easier to pick and choose what you want) I'll make sure to Bold the manga that either I believe you will really like or manga that I really liked but anyways:
If you read any of these, and really like them, just lemme know and I'll make a list that is more focused on what you are looking for, but since you seem to be fine with anything right now felt you might appreciate this more... Definitely check out Koukou Debut and maybe Mars / Kimi wa Pet (these 2 are if you want a romance w/ a more dark atmosphere, slightly more mature feeling to it too)
