This is my first review on mal so it won't be as long and detailed as the others, but it can be helpful for those who doesn't want to read too much.
I saw a lot of anime and in particular a lot of shoujo and romantic anime and I can say with certainty, based on my fair experience, that this is the best anime of its kind but also in general compared to the vast category of animes. It is so beautiful that I reviewed it 4 times and I am tempted to see it again and again. Perhaps it is not
...
unusual to see the anime that some liked, but this is the anime that I saw most times (and I saw several animes). I don't write the plot because it is repetitive, I write only because we should see this anime (I write the review only in this last season, but clearly the speech is valid for all three seasons).
Fruits basket is worth 10 in all its aspects: the drawings, the music, the characters, the plot, the evolution of the plot, the evolution of the characters, the dialogues, the openings and the endings. The emotional depth is high and the music, which I listen constantly almost every day, makes the atmosphere cheerful / sad / playful / hopeful at the same time.
The characters are well explored and are also particular and different from each other. Over the course of the anime, everyone matures differently, based on their own character and past traumas. Everyone is helped by the protagonist: Honda Tohru who is fantastic from every point of view. She might appear superficial and childish at first, but then you understand how important her presence is and how much she too matures within herself some emotions and decisions that she always hides behind her making her cheerful and distracted.
The story is well explored in depth over the span of the three seasons and is interwoven through the narration of past events, which tell the story of each character, and the succession of events in the present.
I love this anime because it is very introspective, talking about the feelings and emotions we each experience and the problems we accrue because of our past traumas; problems that affect our social relationships. Through moments of joy, sadness, disappointment, anger, melancholy, and hope, Fruits Basket makes its way into our hearts, making us fall in love with each character.
I recommend it 100%.
