Wow that's a throwback. I think you've changed your username last we talked, but I checked our comment history and I think I remember you! How've you been?
MBgov1133 Aug 21, 2017 3:34 PM
Yeah I was saying that I don't have any practice exams this term, haha.

And yeah, when it's done I'll send it to you. I have someone writing the lyrics for me, and I've found someone willing to sing the song for me. I also know someone who's a drummer. The only issue is finding people willing to record a strings part for me. If anything I could always use samples, but they don't always sound that great.

Well assuming I have a strings part - I've only finished the piano part. Will do the melody for the singer next, I've just been sick this weekend so I haven't had time to work on it.

Mocks? Term 3 doesn't have any kind of exams or practice exams really, we do that in term 2. Australian schools emirate.

I'm mainly busy with homework (since term 3 is usually the big assignment term) and composing a song, really.
MBgov1133 Aug 12, 2017 8:10 PM
Aight, I'll give it a watch. I saw it in my recommendations at one point but I've been busy with school so no time ;-;

It had a strong first episode. Episode 2 will come out soon. I'd give it a shot. Tell me what you think.
MBgov1133 Jul 17, 2017 12:35 AM
Let's see....

Re:CREATORS is still going strong and will still probably be my favourite anime of the season, whether it's a leftover or not.

For the new ones....

Made in Abyss is great. I feel like a lot of people are "overrating it" to some extent, but it's really good. Great OST, though some songs haven't impressed me too much. The instrumental for the OP is amazing.... I don't like the vocals though. And the ED is nice but not my thing.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e had a great first episode, and I'm excited to see where it goes. IIRC the OP was cool, haven't listened again.

I'm the same with Koi to Uso, it's interesting but that's all I can say at the moment.

Welcome to the Ballroom has an amazing OST, not only because of the amazing OST, but also because of my artist bias towards Yuki Hayashi. It's probably the most impressive show for me this season, from the first episode. Still need to see episode 2.

I'm watching DIVE!!, but it's not that great. I started it for the OST since it's by Yuki Hayashi and KOHTA YAMAMOTO, two of my favourite composers. The OST is amazing but other than that it's kinda just there to animate diving scenes, attract fujos, and doesn't really attempt to tell a story.

Fate/Apocrypha has one of the best OPs this season (by EGOIST), and Masaru Yokoyama has done a really good job on the OST. Let's hope A-1 doesn't screw up the anime itself then.

Kakegurui took me by surprise.... in the sense that I love 50% of it and hate the other 50% of it. There are aspects I love and aspects I hate of the show, so it's weird for me. The OP song is one of the best though, composed by ryo (supercell and EGOIST composer).

Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu has no story and is basically just action.... but the animation is gorgeous (thanks ufotable). OST is also good.

Otherwise, Gamers! is nice. Not amazing but it's entertaining enough, from the first episode.

I've heard good things about Aho Girl but I'm not watching it. I doubt I will since this term of school is usually the really busy term, so we'll see how things go.

And I think that's about it.

Nope lmao, I started school a few weeks ago, technically on the 17th of April, but I was on a school trip to Japan. Though I wouldn't have missed anything anyway since it was camp week. So I started on the 24th. Sorry for the late response.

I was gonna watch Fukumenkei Noise but a friend of mine advised against it. Told me it was terrible.

Oh, by the way, what are your favourite OSTs this season so far?

At the moment, my rankings are:

1. Re:CREATORS OST
2 & 3. Boku no Hero Academia S2 OST, SukaSuka OST (placement undecided)
4. Attack on Titan Season 2 OST
5. Tsuki ga Kirei OST

You got any idea of what you like so far?
MBgov1133 Apr 25, 2017 4:44 AM
Haha yeah.

Honestly with this season it's not that there are shows better than the standout shows from last season, it's more that they maintain a consistent quality with all of the shows being at least "good", with only a few exceptions. So overall it's better but individual show-wise maybe not.

I was actually going to watch Fukumenkei Noise but then I was told not to and just decided not to. So apart from Clockwork Planet, I've managed to avoid all the terrible anime. With Sakurada Reset, I'm gonna wait until it finishes airing. First episode was fairly bad, I feel like I'll enjoy the series if I marathon it though.

I just import the CDs most of the time. CDs look nice as collection, but I don't really use my CD player since it's in an inconvenient place. It's just a way for me to support the artists I really enjoy, along with sometimes getting some bonus goods with the limited editions of the CDs (such as OP/ED storyboards for anime, posters, etc.). Also a good way to check metadata since everything is credited correctly in the booklet.

And yeah, DragonForce loves fast guitar solos. There are slower songs by them as well, but more fast paced. I don't listen to them all the time, but a few times a week since I do like variety. I recommend checking out this song from their new album that's gonna be releasing next month, see what you think. It's a bit different to what I've sent you.... well at least the beginning of the song:

And lmao my friend really dislikes the Zero kara ED. I like it, though the anime isn't anything amazing.

Also I caught up to Rokudenashi, I see why people love it so much. It's not in my top 5, but at least it changes the number of "shit" anime this season from 3 to 2, which is a feat since recently there've been a lot more terrible anime airing rather than good anime. It means this season won't be so biased towards one anime (though that's kind of already AoT S2 and BnHA S2 anyway so).
MBgov1133 Apr 25, 2017 1:49 AM
DragonForce did Through the Fire and the Flames, if you know that song.
https://youtu.be/15JCb6P60Vw

Also another good song by DragonForce:
https://youtu.be/5i7qZxICwgQ

I normally buy all the songs I really love, I have a pretty big CD collection now haha.

I have a playlist of OPs and EDs but it's gotten to the stage where if I download an OP or ED I normally don't listen to it, and if I do end up listening to it, I end up buying it somewhere down the line anyway, so I've kinda stopped downloading stuff.

And I do really want to watch Fune wo Amu. Was on my PTW list for that season, just never got the time. ;-;
MBgov1133 Apr 24, 2017 1:35 AM
Hmm, not sure. I mainly listen to orchestral or rock, but I've been enjoying some electronic music recently. I really love anime and video game soundtracks. While I do like OPs and EDs as well, there aren't as many as you'd expect that I love. Probably since I don't like the "cutesy" OPs you see often in some of the moe anime that've come out recently.

Basically I'll listen to anything, but the ones I like the most are the ones that give me the best feeling to them, since most music out there is at least "good", just maybe not my style or doesn't give me a feeling I like.

An easier way to describe it, is I'll like music if:
1. It's epic
2. It's relaxing
3. It gives me a good feeling when I listen to it

I do listen to English music as well, just most of my music library is Japanese (or in my case, Hiroyuki Sawano). I like DragonForce and Christopher Tin, for non-Japanese artists.

Normally I follow a composer, rather than an artist, though Aimer and MAN WITH A MISSION are the exception to that one.
If I were to rank my favourite artists/composers, it'd probably go like:

1. Hiroyuki Sawano
2. MAN WITH A MISSION
3. Revo (Sound Horizon/Linked Horizon)
4. Aimer
5. Yuki Hayashi

And yes, I play instruments. Piano and guitar. Piano for about 10-12 years or so now, and guitar for about 7 or so. What about you?

Also what are some of your favourite artists and genres?
MBgov1133 Apr 23, 2017 11:49 PM
Sangatsu no Lion was my favourite anime from last season (well, it's now my favourite anime of all time so I think that kind of gives it away). To be frank, last season was shit for the most part. A few really great shows, but 3 of my top 5 were sequels so. :/

What about you?

I do like MYTH & ROID but they're not necessarily my kind of music. I do like the first Re:Zero ED though.

Also what of Sawano's music have you heard already, apart from Re:CREATORS? Are you familiar at all with his stuff?
Here's a song I'd recommend, called "s-AVE" by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Aimer.

MBgov1133 Apr 23, 2017 5:58 AM
Yeah talking and sound effects are sometimes irritating when you hear an amazing OST under it.

Meanwhile I've been rewatching the scenes from Re:CREATORS just to hear the music. Pretty sure I've seen at least all 3 episodes twice in whole at this stage. I do highly recommend it, though I am incredibly biased towards it for multiple reasons. I connect with the premise, it's a premise I've kind of wanted for a while. Plus Sawano is on the OST, and it's one of his best OSTs for a long time. I have more reasons to be biased than I can count, so I'm just gonna say that not everyone's gonna love it, but I love it since it's a good anime for me personally.

SukaSuka is nice, I'm enjoying it so far.
MBgov1133 Apr 22, 2017 11:55 PM
I actually don't like Rokudenashi. Not many of my friends do either, though I still need to catch up. Heard some interesting stuff happens in episode 3.

As for me, ranking what I have started I came up with this list (for a separate purpose but may as well post it here anyway):

**Spring 2017 Anime First Impressions Rankings**

1. Tsuki ga Kirei
2. Re:CREATORS
3. My Hero Academia 2nd Season
4. SukaSuka
5. Attack on Titan Season 2
6. Saekano flat
7. Natsume Yuujinchou 6
8. Sakura Quest
9. Eromanga-Sensei
10. Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho
11. Renai Boukun
12. Rokudenashi
13. Sakurada Reset
14. Clockwork Planet

My favourite is Tsuki ga Kirei, it surprised me. A romance with no bullshit, essentially.

Clockwork Planet ehhh, I mean the story is ok and the setting is cool, the OST is also pretty good as well.... but the animation quality is just downright terrible. Gunshots look like they're done using a shape maker tool in paint and just pasted onto the screen for a few frames, lmao.

Not watching Warau Salesman New, but I've heard the OP, it's really cool. My favourite OP is "gravityWall" by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Tielle&Gemie, the Re:CREATORS OP. Obviously biased because Sawano is my favourite composer of all time, but it's actually a really good song.

And surprisingly, there aren't many stand out EDs this season. Nothing took me by surprise, except for the fact that there weren't that many really good EDs, if any at all. Like there are good ones, but nothing that great. I'm in the same situation, I don't know what ED I like the most. Probably the eromanga-sensei ED if anything.

The composer for Re:CREATORS, Hiroyuki Sawano. My favourite composer of all time. I actually run one of the 4 big fan groups for this composer, I run the Discord chat, so we're all pretty excited about Re:CREATORS.

Sawano is also doing Attack on Titan Season 2's OST, but a lot of songs are reused from the first season (and to be frankly honest it's one of his weakest anime OSTs). Though the song in the 2nd PV was really epic, here take a listen:
https://youtu.be/zLaVP8IhIuc

And the show that took me by surprise this season was SukaSuka, or its full title "Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?". The show isn't half bad, and the OST is one of the best soundtracks this season. Again, take a listen:
