I just randomly came across your profile and all I wanted to say is that I'm glad someone else also thinks Gin is the best character in Bleach! He def needs more appreciation. Anyways your taste is nice :)

Introduction:
Hello there, friend!
We at the Australian & New Zealand Anime Club are proud to present... Our very first newsletter!

This community was founded on the 28th of January - 2015, and since that time we've come a very long way.
You are only reading this because YOU made it possible by being a very important piece of what makes this club what it is.

That said, we are happy to announce that we're coming close to reaching the 1,000 Member Milestone!
It's a wonderful thing to know that there are so many fellow Aussies and Kiwis who love Anime and we hope that we only continue to grow from here on out.

About the newsletter:
So you might ask, what's this newsletter all about?
Well, great question. We've scratched our heads a few times and figured that this newsletter will be dedicated to letting you know that we're active!

Despite the substantial growth of our club, there is still a handful of you that we still haven't had the pleasure of getting to know.
We want you to understand that this is a safe and fun club, but if you're shy then we're not going to force you to participate, this is simply to remind you that there is a place for everyone at this club, so if you ever warm up - come and say hi!

Here's what's happening right now:
We have a wide selection of club activities that you can participate in, from anime discussion to club games or casual conversation.
Anyone in the club is free to make up whatever thread they feel would interest people!

What we hopefully have planned for the future:
GFX Competitions, Giveaways, Club Member of the Month, Gaming Groups and more!

So, other than that, there isn't much to say this time around but hopefully the next time we have to do this, there is much more to look forward to.
We again are thankful to have you, and hope that you come and have some fun with us sometime soon.

- Yours truly,
The Australian & New Zealand Anime Club.

Glad I called that one when I was watching! Usually I get a little too fanboy when watching good anime while they are being released but Fate/Zero was great.

well around 600s episode of one piece most of the things in the anime is going to be very interesting so good luck
arc_eon Mar 22, 2014 4:52 AM
Thanks man, if you ever want to know something yourself feel free to ask

I think it's not just us that think sports anime are good considering how many new ones have been coming out recently.

I don't know want to think about Slam Dunk. I tried watching it around a year ago and I didn't particularly like it. Since your watching it, tell me what you think about it
Jayden234 Mar 21, 2014 3:04 PM
well if you think an anime is really good as you said"one piece" you should probably continue watching i know it is long, but if you really like the anime you should really start watching it to the end and not stop in the middle because something in the anime might be really good.

When it comes to Bleach I wouldn't call it miraculous though i still understand what you're getting at. Bleach follows a pattern which makes it boring, but like other shounen anime focuses on the fighting and or the music.

As for dark shows, its because its dark and not a cliche that you can't guess. If it was a shounen, you pretty much know the main character is gonna win eventually, but with dark shows because 'death' is common, you can't expect anything. Thats why it's more thrilling and generally better.

Like I said, I haven't watched Beserk so I don't know what the disappointment is, but if it makes you want to read the manga then i guess the author is getting what he wants XD

I recently have been watching romance or sports. The thing with dark animes and sport ones, like you said about the art, is they tend to have realism so we can relate. Besides, sports are done irl for the thrill of seeing someone win, sports anime do that. It's just that they are a hell of a lot better because of the music, plot and relation to the chars.

Well like a lot of other people, long series like naruto are the ones that captivated me to start watching anime to begin with. and because of that, when i started all i watched were long animes.

I guess darker ones are more broad because the cliche is generally that of a light-hearted anime, if you get what i mean.

I haven't watched berserk or monster yet though I do have an idea of what they're like. i plan on watching them soon though. And what you said about watching a few light ones and then a dark anime, i think it's probably because the ratio is like 5:1 of how many there are.
arc_eon Mar 18, 2014 3:12 PM
I have watched quite a few long series or animes with several seasons. Though I do like shounen, i only like it if it has a pretty good plot. The only exceptions I can think of are Bleach and Dragon Ball (I don't like Dragon Ball that much to begin with). That's one of the primary reasons I watch One Piece, to fill in the gaps the plot created; in essence to solve the mystery. I think the main reason animes like Rainbow are good is because there unique, so you never have a clue what's going to happen; good or bad. The reason people generally watch light-hearted ones more is probably because it's more common to make light-hearted. When Dark ones are made, they generally tend to be amazing because of how hard it is to make one to begin with.
arc_eon Mar 17, 2014 1:20 AM
so it's s not that you don't really dislike them, but you find the plot too obvious? and you said gem like rainbow, which i can understand since that anime was really good. But do you mean because it had an unusual/surprising plot or because it's just generally good?
arc_eon Mar 15, 2014 1:09 PM
I understand what your saying about one piece, since even though there are parts i don't like it's still worth watching for those few amazing moments and episodes. When it comes to Katekyo hitman reborn, i think it's that they changed the style of writing in the manga from a gag manga into more of a shonen/action type one; it's not that they were slow. The one thing i never understood was why they'd make the fillers the same way the first 20eps were like. And one last thing, why would you watch an anime if you don't like any of it?
arc_eon Mar 13, 2014 9:53 AM
so basically, you read whatever you find bad in the anime. I guess that's why its popular in Japan (and everywhere else in fact) since you just basically said that the manga is great. When it comes to Reborn though, reading or watching, the first chapters weren't that great so did you just skip them or something?
arc_eon Mar 12, 2014 12:29 PM
what you said about how it took you a while to get into one piece means that you didn't like it much but still watched it right? how come? I mean, from that comment, it seems like your more of a straight-into-a-fight type of guy.
soapiesenpai Mar 3, 2014 8:06 AM
lol I wouldn't get aggressive over a fair point;") whoopwhoop anime!:D
soapiesenpai Mar 1, 2014 3:11 AM
