Oh I understand, I don't come here very often either. You sound like you're really busy these days lol. But what happened that made you depressed?

The Biggest Muscle in Town (BMT)

Hello there, my fellow blood mates. It's not unfamiliar to me that ever since this club's inception, I have usually been absent thus not doing any significant contribution to this club; reason due to which the club has been pretty much dead in spite the fact that there are around 40 members now, which, in my opinion, is a pretty decent amount considering the dire situation anime has in our country.

Anyway, to spice things a bit I am presenting to you the Ultimate Showdown of male characters in anime/manga: The Biggest Muscle in Town, or some would like to call it by BMT! The plot's simple; all you have to do is nominate the characters you'd like see in the showdown competing with others' characters.

Rules of the game:
-One can nominate up to two characters only in the showdown.
-There should be no repeats in the nominations, i.e. the two characters to be nominated shouldn't have been nominated earlier by some other member of the club. (In order for that to work nicely, I'd keep on updating the original post.)
-The "Biggest Muscle in Town" doesn't at all mean that you're attributed to nominate only beefed-up men; any man you like from any anime/manga would get a fair chance to get nominated
-Since there are around 40 members in the club as of now, only 50 characters will be able to get nominated and thus compete in the roaster.
-After the nominations are complete, another thread will be created in which every four days, voting will be commenced between four random characters; the winners of which, will go in the consecutive rounds to compete with the fellow characters; eventually, the "biggest muscle in town" will be disclosed chosen by our very own blood mates, the members of Exotic India.
-Every four days, each member will be given a PM to be reminded about the new roaster.
-One would only be able to vote for two characters, only once, in the initial competition.
-And, yo, rules aren't meant to be broken here.

Hi there, thanks for the holiday blessings! It's been a while now and the Spring Festival is here. I should be wishing you a long life and happiness as blessings too, hehe. I'm sorry I don't use skype, but I'll always be here. Thinking of changing my profile layout again lol.

Oh...? So it wasn't the pretty boys that drew you in? Reeeeeeally... I seeeee ehhehe...

Well Paprika is one of the weirdest anime I have ever seen. In fact I felt kind of sick after watching it... somehow it really messes with your brain. There is one scene that showed butt and nipples... only a short moment though. Just a warning in case you're going to watch it with someone else and naked scenes make you uncomfortable lol.

Yeah long romanized words are hard to read properly... especially for non-English natives like us. Luckily for me, the producers used Kanji for the title, which I can read easily enough, so I remembered it the easy way lol. Oh I have finished downloading the series it seems. All the episodes are now in one of my folders and maybe I'll get to watch it soon.

Yes I'm still having martial arts classes. It's really not that easy it seems. I know I'm doing everything wrong, but the teacher says it's all right for now haha. We start with remembering the postures and movements, and then once we're done with that he will start correcting our wrong/weak points. I think it's too bad that you have no time to learn a martial art, otherwise we'd have plenty of fun talking about different experiences in learning different arts.
Mouhappai Apr 27, 2011 10:09 PM
For adult female audiences? Yeah I expected as much hehe.

But I didn't know that they had facts and proverbs at the start of each episode, now that certainly is educational. I saw no mention of them on youtube or any reviews I read before though. Would be interesting to see how they are explained to the audience...

And yeah, I also think it's such a shame that people can't appreciate a gem when it's just in front of them. But then again other fans of anime might say the same thing about us lol... like how come we're watching "boring" shows like these instead of appreciating Naruto rofl. Difference preferences is all it is.

Somehow I feel that a lot of people who watch 彩雲國物語 are actually in it for the hot guys HAHA! And only after getting later into the series do they find the story more appealing and the hot guys just become a bonus. I mean, a story about the government system and Emperor set in ancient China... filled with hot boys. If I were a regular girl, I'd probably only notice the "hot boys" part lol.

Actually, I think a little bit of gore is all right but when it's excessive it can be quite a turn off for me. Most of the time it's the storyline content and meaning behind the story instead of graphic content that I'm after. I guess it's somewhat the same with you ya? You seem to appreciate a wider genre that me though. Your range go from Kare Kano to Wolf Guy... that''s quite a leap. Let me ask, is the psychological factor or gore that is appealing for you? There is another non-serial anime that I watched and it's called Paprika, and it's filled with really strange stuff, at time disturbing and mostly psychological in nature. I watched it because I was studying psychology at that time, and I still found it weird lol.

Oh by the way, I'm sorry I used the Japanese title instead of the romanized version of Saiunkoku. Somehow I've seen that title so many times but I can never remember how to spell that whole thing out without looking at your message for reference hahaa... so much fail. 囧
And thanks for the torrent links, I'll be checking it out.

Yeah... MAL sucks big time right now. Takes ages to upload a new profile pic and stuff, but only a couple of seconds to totally blow up your comment replies. Next time... I'm gonna copy/paste my messages before hitting submit.

I think in general, we both really just like fantasy themes, but would like for them to be as realistic as possible so that we can actually make a connection to our own world. But when the fantasy fiction goes out of control, we lose that connection altogether. This is just what I think about us lol.

Bleach, Naruto, Haruhi and other similar titles aren't quite like Death Note or even Saiunkoku Monogatari because those are pretty much a time-sink... meaning they serve to help us pass the time. I believe Saiunkoku Monogatari can be pretty educational, even though I have not watched it but I judge based on what I have heard about it. The only problem I see is that the setting does not take place in Japan, which may probably be a turn off for some anime fans. This plus the rather mature theme (mature as in requires brainpower and ability to comprehend complicated events) probably is the cause of lack of viewers. But you know, I have once planned to watch this, but never got about to doing it...

So am I right in guessing that Saiunkoku Monogatari is rather mature-themed in that sense?

Hey I'm sorry I took so long to reply. Actually I replied to you last week, but MAL messed up when I pressed the submit button. Something about slave database error... my long message got deleted and I forgot what I wanted to say lol. So mad.

You know, I don't think I will be bored by Kare Kano. I think I'm just like you, where I prefer "realistic" themes at times. Perhaps you may have noticed, all the anime I have watched are mostly realistic real-life possible events, and i never watched any of the big name ones like Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, or the one with the pirates. I also tend to stay away from mostly pointless ones like the Haruhi girl or Lucky Stars... hopefully you don't watch those as well, or do you? o.O;

Sometimes I like those that can stir emotions, or make you think about things. Spirited Away is a good example, but my favourite so far has got to be Piano no Mori. I just happened to stumble upon a CD of the anime, and reading the back summary of the movie reminded so much of my younger self.

I believe Kare Kano would have a similar theme, and to be honest, I'd would choose to watch this over the big name ones I mentioned above (Naruto, Bleach, etc...) Perhaps I might watch Death Note, 'cause I saw once a dubbed version of the intro of the movie, where they defined the meaning of "justice", and it kind of makes you realise that justice isn't a very simple word.

Overall, I still really like themes like Spirited Away and Piano no Mori, if you get what I mean. I'd recommend these to you.
Mouhappai Apr 9, 2011 11:09 PM
Oh I sure do... in fact I always go for mythical and fantasy themed movies be it anime/cartoons or live-action. I'm just not into sci-fi like Star Wars, lots of robots and outer-space. Aliens vs Predators and Wall.E are exceptions though... Wall.E is funny, and kinda cute. Do you something specific about the whole myth and fantasy stuff that you really like in particular? 'Cause this is a very general topic.

Yeah I left out a few lines and used internet slang whenever I can't think of a proper translation into English lol. It adds some fun to it too, then it wouldn't be so boring haha. I think the makers of the video only wanted to make a short summary of the two odd characters, so certain parts were cut. Plus it might be difficult to find other non-professionals to dub other characters. In fact the dubbers were speaking in two completely different languages, so I think having a third would be too much. Not bad considering it's just a fan-project. Pretty convincing voices (even better than some offocial English dubs I've heard LOL...)

Million Dollar Baby? It got a score of 8.2/10, so it can't be that bad. I also notice a similarity between this movie and kare Kano... they are both about self-realization ya? Hehe so that's the theme that you go after mostly, I see. Oh, my cousin who's 3 years younger than me was once an Inu Yasha fan, so yeah I knew that was him in your profile pic.

Btw... was my previous comment your 1000th comment? And this one your 1001th?
Mouhappai Apr 8, 2011 6:07 AM
A boxer? That's kind of unique considering your gender... I thought boxers are usually male. I just can't imagine a female boxer in my mind lol. Martial arts yes but boxer... not so much. For me, I'm considered rather "tiny" for someone my age, so hard martial arts are a no-no. I decided to pick up soft martial arts instead hehe. If you could, what kind of martial arts would you want to learn?

You know, I never watched Kare Kano, but I once made a half-@$$ed attempt at translating a fan-dub of a Kare Kano scene on youtube. I had to do it because the fan-dubbers are obviously not professionals, but they did a really good job with their voices. I just thought it would be a waste if not more people can get to see it, so I translated it to English and re-uploaded it. The video is here, I hope you like the dubs lol (and the subs too...):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWAQFJ_Soao&feature=channel_video_title

I think Kare Kano is a great time waster though, especially for women. I have a feeling women like this kind of stuff more so than guys lol. There isn't much of a plot, is there? It's about a girl and a guy becoming more than simple friends, ya?

Oh by the way... I'm liking your new profile picture a lot. It's nice to see non-anime style pictures once in a while. Women can't resist a sexy cat-eared hot demon guy either right...? lol
Mouhappai Apr 3, 2011 6:39 AM
My brother... he's only going there for business purposes, so I'm sure he won't be having fun lol. For me I feel better with him out of the way HA! Yeah I'm not a very loving brother I know. Two boys in the family never turn out well. Sister/brother or sister/sister are always better it seems. You have siblings too right?

I think if you noticed, I haven't any sci-fi anime on my list, which makes up of mostly fantasy, music (not singing though), or just plain random like Hetalia and Dr. Slump. Dr. Sump was the first anime I watched when I was 4 years old or so, so I just had to put it there for nostalgia's sake haha (it was dubbed in my language too). Just curious though, do you remember the first anime you watched? And at what age?

So far I haven't watched anything new. I have preoccupied myself with too many things recently. Been learning some martial arts, classical Chinese (the universal script which was used for communication between China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam in ancient times) while juggling my music studies at the same time. But as you probably already know... I'm already getting lazy and I'm not making an progress at all...
Mouhappai Apr 1, 2011 10:01 PM
Oooh I don't know... I have not received my result slips yet. But I am very disappointed with my performance that day. It was so terrible I felt sorry for the examiner who was going to mark my paper haha.

My brother went to Vietnam for a business trip it seems. What a busy man. Why do you even ask about my brother all of a sudden anyway? I don't even remember telling you anything about him. You have a pretty good memory!

Ergo Proxy... I have heard that name mentioned a few times before but from what I know, it's just another sci-fi anime with robots and stuff, nothing really stands out. Am I right?
