Frieren is a perfect masterpiece and vastly superior than the shows you most like in every single aspect. One day you will understand flawless art when you see one.

Nice review on the Shiki Specials. And nice list. You want something that's gonna make you think? Watch Shinsekai yori.
Groz Jan 31, 2012 12:56 PM
The reason I gave it a 9/10 was because I felt the 2nd special wasn't on the same level as the first, if it had been I would have given it a 10 for sure. In many ways I liked the first episode of the specials better than any other episode in the main series, it really affected me and seemed to be a literary and emotional masterpiece.

A friend recommended Shiki to me and when I watch a series I try to watch all of the OVA's and specials and in the case of Shiki that was one of the best specials I'd ever seen. When I get a chance I'll look through some of your other reviews, maybe find something else worth watching :)

Hey I wanted to congratulate you on an impeccable review for the Shiki Specials, I felt the same way about them but gave them a 9 out of 10 because I didn't think the 2nd special was on par with the first episode of the special (It blew me away, before I didn't care what happened to the Shiki but within the context of that episode I could sympathize especially with Nao)

Because D. Gray-man focuses on Allen so much, I think the characters seem more hopeful than they really are. Lavi was originally a nihilist, Lenalee was in in complete despair, Miranda doesn't think they can win, Suman gave up, Aleister has no confidence, and Kanda has his own reasons for fighting. They aren't on the same page at all. I think there was potentially 140ish pieces of innocence available for exorcists, and there are only like 9 people left. I think what they see as hope is just them shying away from reality and pushing the situation to the back of their minds. There is no real feeling that they can win the war. It feels more like exorcists are going to lose and cease to exist. As for the humor in D. Gray-man, I thought it was terrible. I missed most of the "humor" because it just wasn't funny. I would have to see the characters' expressions in order to know they were making a joke. Anyway, what have you been watching recently?

Sorry for the late reply. I also prefer anime over manga. I'm a visual person and find that the subtleties in body movement really add to the story. I also agree with the 52 episode thing. I guess I was thinking of that when I suggested one season. I wish the D. Gray-man anime had been better. I think the characters and premise were really interesting, but the pacing and superficiality to the storyline really hurt the series. I am slightly tempted to read the manga and pick up where the anime left off. Did you also notice a weird heaviness in the anime? It seemed like they held no real hope for the future. It was kind of depressing. Happy New Year!

Well atleast it has some excuse, but it was way too dragged out. The anime should have had everything in one season. It just got way too repetitve, which is a shame, because the story had some really interesting plotlines. Have you read the manga?

Excellent D. Gray-Man review. I agree with it and wish I had read it earlier.

Not bad for your "Deadman Wonderland" Review.
Osprey Feb 20, 2011 1:28 PM
respect your D.Gray - Man review
but, the only reason it ended this way because the creator (Katsura Hoshino) had a wrist injury,so the manga went on haitus and the anime had to end or it'll be be just filler episodes.
story yet to be reveled, other than that i almost agree with you, but the thing is i really enjoyed it

Yes, true, many shonen are alike. But some are less than others.
At least they could be a bit more original and not just name everything the Fire Nation or the Water Nation. It's so blunt.

And I am not asking for Middle Earth or Forgotten Realms type of maps. Just not something so obvious. Like the FMAB map for example.

The elements, the martial arts, the 3 kids as heroes, the names of the nations, the mention of chakras, the prophecy to save the world by birth, learning new powers. You can't find another shonen so alike.

Have you watched The last Airbender? It feels a lot like Naruto.
