ahaha I saw that !
And this one is quite funny though. I'm just into episode 7. So idk what's happening after, if the anime goes deeper or not.
But you will see some nice tribute(reference) to certain people IRL. ( i will don't spoil but you will see for example a tribute to Mike Tyson ) . If you know his story you will understand.
Definitely true. Such an underrated anime, but we'll have a second season soon, hope it will help the anime to be discovered by more people. The development is also inspiring. People usually know what is needed to be done in order to improve themselves, but it's quite rare that someone decide to put the effort to fix problems on their life. That's why i find him really relatable and such a good mc. I've seen this anime a long time ago though, so i dont remember too much details. Im probably gonna give it a rewatch when i'll see the second season. Right now im busy catching up with one piece anime.
As for your opinion about forum threads, i completely agree. Unfortunately people those days just decided that true and wrong exist, and they also know what is true and what is wrong. They won't even change their mind if you use logic and explain things properly,
I guess I might be bored enough to check it out eventually.
Well, maybe not then, if it inspired the worst anime I ever watched, it can't be good. I on the other hand do hate Eva with a mild passion.
The side plots of Monster were pretty good actually. It's the main plot that's garbage. I'm not gonna spoil it since you didn't watch it, but it was a huge disappointment. The love life of Eva Heinemann could have been made into a trashy melodrama I'd enjoy, but it's very annoying that it's attached to the nonsense that's the rest of Monster.
The anime at first has wacky animation in the first few episodes (1 to 3 or 4) with black screens. Tensens are not as shown much (only mu dan for the last few episodes).Well the stuff of how we intorduce is shocker but at least they clarify the reason. And Sagirl, she maybe a little bit quiet in the first few episodes but she is shown to good character.
I can definitely understand what you mean, it tells its story in a very non-linear, disjointed way and it's definitely not the easiest watch. I'm not sure if you've seen it, but the show I'd be most inclined to compare it to is Lain. I'm a huge fan of avant-garde, heavily philosophical anime but I can absolutely understand why someone else wouldn't be.
if you do want to get more into the Boogiepop universe, there's the show from 2019 which is basically an abridged adaptation of the light novels. it gives a lot more context behind the characters and what's happening: it's a much easier watch than Phantom in every conceivable way. it is still fairly non-linear, though, but it explains things a lot more. if you end up watching it and liking it, you might then go back to Phantom and have a better understanding of it. I would also be happy to clarify/answer any questions you have!
I'm glad the first episode left a good impression on you! Yeah Spike is kind of an stoic character due to his past which you are going to know as the show progresses. Katerina and Asimov's fate is really tragic, and you'll see a lot happening to the criminals that Spike and his crew try to pursue; each one of them will somehow delevop the Bebop's members as the story goes on- this episode for ex. serves as an introduction to the dynamic between Spike and Jet, and it shows the more cheerful/playable side of Spike, but in some moments here and there (the scene at the end of the episode) you get to know his stoic/melancholic side.
I never noticed that Spike VA was actually in Ghost in the Shell, that's awesome. I rewatched the scene you were talking about and I noticed what you said about their dialogue delivery. Maybe they were too relaxed (?). Either way it's nice to know you like the visuals/music as well!
Yeah Ken wouldn't be quite the same without his voicework, Akira Kamiya is just built different xD
It would be great to know your opinion on Cowboy Bebop after you finish it. Regarding Rising of the Shield Hero I've heard a lot of things about the anime (positive and negative), but never had the chance to watch it - I'll take your words as an advice to avoid it.
Oh it's cool to know that, I'll check your highest rated anime as well since we have some similar taste. City Hunter was an amazing experience, it's that kind of anime you watch once a day after a long day of work. Akira Kamiya performance in City Hunter is imo one of the best if not his best interpretations of a character - he knows how to be goofy and badass when it's needed.
If I could recommend another anime for you it would definitely be Cowboy Bebop, I think it fits your likings pretty well :)

The ending of season 1 is very nice.
( just the season 1 animation is trash. but the story is so good that you will enjoy it ) .
