If you fold a dimension, you theoritically see the next higher dimension, as if you create an image you can understand. By merge I mean "going there" or affecting it.

The question is why would time traveling aliens bother with us depth-landers. Having just one higher dimension makes you like a god to those bellow you so they will probably don't give a damn.

So in a way you are right, time is not the same as space unless there is anti-time. Meaning, just like you can have a line with a point zero, you can start counting distanses on both sides (left and right). But you don't do that with time because it's supposed to go only forward. And if it goes backwards as well, then it is still not a dimension because time travel is subject to the 6th dimension. So he proposes for time to be seen only as the tool at which someone "folds" the dimensions and not a dimension on its own. And he also claims we call it the 4th so far only because we have no problem recognizing the first 3, thus we didn't need to make up the tool to fold them in the first place. So the 4th dimension is in another theory the 5th, the 5th is the 6th, the 10th is the 11th. He also prefers to call time as duration because this way you can count it easier on both ends and not only from present to future. It is a cool theory.

scientists can be so funny when they spend decades on something completely wrong. The Big Bang Theory comedy series is a fine example.

Modern science treats time and space as equal; not seperate. They call it timespace.

It still requires for you to accept time travel is possible when common sense dictates it isn't.
