Life do be like that, but we're still here hahaha!
Speaking to you again actually reminded me of Fanpop and I was surprised to find that the site ist still up and running, although it's changed a lot and is DEAD now lol. I kinda miss it ngl.

I mean yea pretty much all the main characters die by the end but it's pretty realistic for how dark the setting is. Also they start dropping like flies from like episode 3 so you know what to expect. I thought Esdeath was pretty great as a main villain. They hyped her up so much throughout the series and then it pays off big time in the final fight which I guess you didn't watch. The anime and manga versions are different but both have their good points. If you don't mind spoilers here's a cool ass AMV of the anime. Maybe you'd at least enjoy that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW5b_S_PKyQ

Togame got shot by that one guy right? She's a normal person and not a fighter so logically it could have happened any second. It was abrupt but it did lead to a last minute revenge plot and a pretty badass final episode. Might sound mean but when my best girl dies like Nanami did, there is a certain sense of satisfaction that the MCs don't get to just keep living their lives happily like nothing happened. It's like let the world burn at that point. Nanami was such a unique character both design wise, personality wise and just overall. A very good waifu choice I'd say.
That episode was a total troll job so I can see why people would be mad. In my case I obviously loved the Nanami episode but at the same time I think we definitely should have gotten the Hakuhei as well in a different episode or something. It should have been the hardest fight in the entire series and they basically did it off screen to make a joke at the expense of the audience.

Now that I have most of the Tam Lin and have listened to their voice lines, I noticed the term they use in Japanse is "Fairy knight". So I guess "Tam Lin" is some localization or maybe it's a specific term from folklore? Not that it matters much since most characters call them by their real names at this point.
Meanwhile Britomart ended up being a servant from proper human history with no relation to the others. Her entire backstory, personality and voice lines all seem entirely light hearted without any dark undertones or trauma as far as I can tell. A rarity in this game for sure. And her niche seems to be dealing bonus damage against Riders so she can farm both Archer and Rider waves. Not the craziest thing but it's something.

I think re-recording the lines makes sense because the game is so old so you don't want there to be a noticeable difference between the old and new lines. There weren't that many voice lines to begin with so might as well.
Cosmo's exclusive to Sonic X and only season 3 at that. A great character so that is a bit of a shame but Sonic X is basically on an alternate universe canon compared to the games/comics. All the events happen with Chris in the human world instead of Sonic's world. They could still just introduce Cosmo as a "new character" though.
Yea I've seen the Dream Team OP and some gameplay footage. The game looks great and I'm pretty sure this is the first time you get to use Cream as a playable character in a 3D game. Not counting Heroes because you have to use the who team Rose there. I was pretty hyped soon as I heard about it but who knows when/if I'll ever get to play it.
That's a girl? Sorry if she's actually good but from that picture she looks very boyish to me and not in a good way.

Yay Blaze! I actually caught up on the comics these last few days and there was plenty of Blaze goodness to go around. Her world is at peace so her friends convince her to take a vacation in Sonic's world so she reunites with Cream and then goes running around the world with Sonic to see the sights. It's a pretty decent ship since Blaze is one of the few people who can actually keep up with him and appreciate his way of life. Although I wish we got a whole chapter of them just playing around instead of a few pages. Here are some highlights:

Also check that last page out. I don't know if it's because she likes Sonic specifically or if she's embarrassed that someone's holding her hand in general but that's the first time I've seen her blushing like that. Or express interest in a guy at all if that's what that is. Although like 5 pages later Sonic starts shipping her with Silver so I don't get what they're going for. I barely know anything about Silver since I haven't played a single game he's in but kinda not liking his vibes from what little I've seen. I think it's very unlikely we'll get any explicit romance in the comic tbh. If they were ever gonna confirm a ship it would probably have to be done in a game.

I liked the wolf boss, flaming spider girl, gaping dragon maybe? Lots of em where pretty cool although usually not too difficult either. Took me maybe 6 tries for Capra Demon including the first one where I just walked in and died. Bed of Chaos was fucking bullshit. I broke its sides on my first run, tried fighting him 2 more times to try a few things, saw that nothing was doing damage so I immediately looked up how to kill him. I read I needed to get onto that middle branch, did that on my first try, walked off the edge because I didn't know where I was suppose to go from there, and then it took me 20 more tries to get back onto the root. Then you just one shot the beetle. Such a shit boss. And the walk back was beyond disgusting. Worst boss in the game easily.
I beat the DLC too btw. Unfortunately played it in NG+ which probably made it way harder than it should have been but I made it through anyway. Another mistake was I put all my NG+ points into intelligence because I wanted to use the Moonlight greatsword. So these are my final stats:

It honestly did okay damage but still less than the Halberd so I basically wasted 14 levels that should have gone into vitality and saved me a whole lot of trouble. I think if I had 50 in int it might have done comparable damage but it was obviously way too late at that point. But hey at least I got to hold it so whooo:

Priscilla was cute and just minding her own business but I killed her anyway for the scythe. Which I enhanced and tried using a few times but it never worked out well. So that was a bummer. I probably was pretty high level by the time I fought her but it was still an okay gimmick fight. Didn't know she would turn invisible but then I realized she was leaving footsteps and stuff. So I did beat her first try but she was still 3 shotting me. Wasn't too easy/boring or anything.
I thought the clunkiness was 100% intentional to make the game harder or more realistic or something. But if they changed it in later games that would be great.
I had Solaire for the final boss and the best shield in the game so it was pretty easy. Didn't even follow a guide to get him. His summon sign was just there even though I see people complaining how hard it was to stop him from dying earlier in the game.
Hardest boss for me was that Gravelord Nito asshole. Since I was only using the Halberd, I didn't have a divine weapon so the skeleton mobs kept respawning. And if I backed away he kept spamming that red scythe attack that comes from the ground and fucks me. So I'm fucked by 10 skeletons if I go in, I'm fucked if I keep my distance and there's no way to improve my position. I ended up cheesing it with invisibility since the boss still chases you but the skeletons don't. He was piss easy 1v1.
If that didn't work I would have probably needed to craft a divine weapon or look up a guide since I was making 0 progress fighting him normally.

I read later that that Halberd was a 20% drop but I just assumed it was guaranteed from that knight. Same for the trident because the first trident guy I killed in the Undead Parish dropped one. A pretty weird decision to put such a powerful random drop on a non respawning enemy like that. I guess it was both a gift and a curse looking back. A gift obviously because I got a great weapon early on, but a curse because it made me not engage with any of the other weapon mechanics and stuff which probably would have been fun.
I didn't notice that about the spider girl at all but I read that offering 80 souls gives no rewards and no new dialogue so I didn't bother doing it. Only gave her 30 for the shortcut. I guess that makes things a little better. I technically got the "evil ending" where you don't like the fire and just become an undead king so my character could have just kept feeding her humanities indefinitely in that timeline. And maybe worked towards curing her if possible. But I sorta just assumed I wouldn't be coming back so I tied up all the loose ends before the final boss.
And I 100% gave her a bunch of humanities at once so I don't know if that was changed from when you were playing. I started with the Old witches ring as my gift so the spider waifu covenant felt like destiny once I learned what it was for.

I decided to do Elden ring next so I'm probably gonna start it tomorrow after clearing the new Genshin patch in a few hours hopefully. Might still come back to DS 2 and 3 later but since the games aren't related there's no reason I can't just play Elden Ring right now. Oh and Stellar Blade is apparently coming to PC next year. I'll absolutely be playing it when it does.
vegeta8639 Nov 10, 4:57 PM
For me Tamura Yukari's most notable role other than Rika is probably https://myanimelist.net/character/2010/Nanoha_Takamachi
Although she also voiced some girls from Key works like Mei from Clannad and Mai from Kannon both of whom I love very much. Suzuha from Steins;Gate is another pretty big role too other than the ones you mentioned. Had no idea about Himeko but I guess we don't actually hear the character's voices very much especially when we don't have them.
If you liked Mine maybe you should have kept reading the manga since she ends up dating the protagonist. I watched the anime first but read the manga after because I heard Kurome survives there. I don't necessarily think her end in the anime was bad but it was still nice to see a happier alternative. And she gets a decent ship too. In case you don't even know what I'm talking about she's Akame's sister: https://myanimelist.net/character/65297/Kurome
It's a pretty dark series with lots of main character deaths so I can see why people wouldn't like it but I'd say it's similar to Edgerunners in that regard. Not the worst thing ever.
Nui was great. Easily best girl. Didn't care much for Togame but she grew on me after dying I guess. Was most interested (and upset) about Nanami. Who is voiced by Rena's VA btw so I guess the 2 got to work together again.

Yea it's a little cutscene that played near the end of the event and thankfully I at least got to listen to it in Japanese. Here's what she sounded like in English in case you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWlWuVU4ZiI
And I did really love her English voice. The new cinematic I showed you last time was like a conclusion to the older one I linked now. After the main story where we save her of course.

I remember watching some video a while back going over servant's bond levels and how it relates to their personalities but I never really paid much attention to that aspect. I always just get them to bond 5 ASAP and then listen to all their lines at once. Morgan's obviously at that point by now going towards bond 6.
Also I already have lots more FGO news since my previous message. I'm sure you know the new banners are here and:

EXACTLY what I predicted happened. Britomart dropped early and I got Baobhan last at ~130 pulls. Still a great result of course and I'm glad I got all 3 this way. But Britomart dropped at like 20 so a lot of extra tickets were wasted on the 4 star. Doing single summons with tickets is so annoying btw. Takes so long and feels like you're getting nothing. Haven't leveled them or touched the event yet because I've been busy with a certain game I'm gonna talk about here in a bit.
Good luck with Kirei of course. My next servant is gonna be Melusine and I'm pulling until I get her no matter what.

Grave of the Fireflies was good but it probably hits way harder for Japanese people who are closer to that history. Also showcases some US war crimes so I can see some Westerners not liking it too much. But it's not really something I'd wanna rewatch either. A very depressing story and there's more than enough of those to go around in the real world.
I've only seen Totoro and Arrietty out of the ones you listed. Any particular one you'd recommend from the rest?

From what I heard they rerecorded all the lines for Shadow Generations so I guess someone thought that was a good opportunity to change some of the more "problematic" ones. Rouge's outfit went up to her wings and then it stopped for obvious reasons so her upper back was showing. Now they changed it to go past her wings meaning it would be physically impossible for her to put it on. Pretty stupid but we can't let the kids see a little bit of skin on a seductive bat I guess. Maybe next game they can just put a burqa on her and solve the problem that way.
Sonic X was so so but season 3 was amazing. It introduced this great new girl Comso in case you haven't seen her: https://myanimelist.net/character/14742/Cosmo
In my head Cream had always been part of that OG crew because of the anime but in the games they've been completely shafting her after those first few games since she got introduced. Pretty sure it's been ~15 years since she's really been playable outside of some mobile/racing games. Even general screentime has been pretty scarce for her which is a shame.
I would have pretty solidly said Cream was my favorite a few months ago but Blaze might honestly just take the spot at this point. It's basically a coin flip.

I've played some PS3 games on emulator before and this game is already 18 years old so I just assumed it would work but I guess not. Obviously looking into the Xbox version was the next thing I tried but I heard people saying it was unplayable as well.
I have read the first ~30 chapters of the IDW comics and thought they were pretty good. Decent screentime for both Cream and Blaze there with legit story involvement too. That's about where the first big arc ended so I took a break but I'll definitely continue at some point. One great thing is that it's all colored unlike Japanese manga.

Anyway with all that out of the way, I started fucking Dark Souls WHOOOOO! Well more like finished the first game at this point since I beat the final boss yesterday. But I do still wanna do the DLC in NG+ after I get to it again. Gotta say it wasn't exactly what I expected and a lot of things really put me off from the game. I hate how slow and clunky the character is even late game when you have more stamina. The parry timing is complete BS. I couldn't even parry the tutorial enemy after dying to him 3 times so I just gave up. I swear the sword clipped straight through my shield and hit my character one time. After that I resorted to block>hit>roll away as my go to strategy for 90% of content including bosses. On that note I hate how the bonfires aren't right next to the boss arenas. Made me really not want to lose progress so I just cheesed many of the bosses instead of having fun with them. Also not being able to warp between bonfires until late game was also so annoying. Even after you get the Lordvessel you still can't warp to all of them.
Couldn't really get into the story either and I hate how all the NPC's die at the end of their quest line. Like there's some priest girl I saved from a dungeon and now I'm suppose to buy all her spells that I'm never gonna use so she can go get captured, go hollow and then I have to kill her to finish the quest line. Why would I waste my time farming souls for that? Obviously you can tell I used a guide from that statement. I did start it blind but literally couldn't figure out how to get into the sewers even though the entrance was right next to the boss I beat that dropped the key. But I teleported out and completely lost track of it. And after opening the guide once I couldn't resist looking up everything else I was curious/confused about.

I guess I should also talk about my build and stuff. Here is my ending character/stats:

That 14 intelligence is only there so I could use the stealth skill. Didn't touch magic past that because it was too annoying to use. And that Black knight halberd is what I used for 95% of the game. Picked it up in the wooded area after ringing the first bell, grinded the 32 strength required for it and pretty much never used anything else until the end of the game. Any other weapon I tried did like 1/5th of the dmg so there was no point changing it. Admittedly that's without upgrades but I never really figured out how that system works either. I keep getting all these embers that probably unlock all sorts of enhancements but not for my halberd so I pretty much ignored all of it. I did craft some boss weapons like the Scythe and their damage was also underwhelming.
I did get the Moonlight greatsword too but it wanted 28 intelligence so I was just "fuck that" soon as I saw it. Not grinding 14 more levels when I'm probably already overleveled as fuck in that screenshot.
I also joined the spider waifu covenant and then killed her before the final boss because you can't cure her no matter what anyway. Pretty depressing but I just wanted to be done with the game at that point.
So that's my first Dark Souls experience. I will say the game was addictive as fuck as I couldn't stop playing it for ~12 hours a day until I was almost done. But I did start getting bored/annoyed near the end with the fire area and abyss. Also the game was WAAAAY bigger/longer than I expected. I thought I was almost done after the 2nd bell but that wasn't even a 3rd of the way through. Honestly not sure I want to play 3 more of these so maybe I'll take a break after this game, play Elden ring and then call it a day. From what I understand the stories aren't related anyway.
Would you say it fixes any of the complaints I had about Dark Souls 1?
Crez Nov 6, 5:41 PM
It did say you'd dropped it. Honestly glad you hadn't because it would be painful to get that far to give up hahaha!
Everyone keeps saying it's fantastic, but I'm sadly past my days of reading really long shounen, my memory isn't good enough to keep up lol.
Been well is bit difficult to say considering how long it's been hahaha. I've been terrible and on death's door since last we spoke, but right now I'm good! Hope you're good too!
vegeta8639 Nov 1, 11:18 AM
I'm not entirely sure on the details but I know part of it is bitching about companies using AI voices. And I'm sure this strike definitely won't make companies try to replace these people as soon as humanly possible. Their general lack of professionalism definitely isn't helping either.
Thankfully Nahida's Japanese VA did an amazing job so the event was saved. It's Tamura Yukari who most notably voices Rika from Higurashi so not sure how familiar you are with her work. Actually here maybe you'll find this interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqZGtzmonpY

Anyway I did my rolls for her weapon and the result was this:

That "refinement rank 5" there means I fully maxed the weapon out. Way better luck than I expected but to be fair I usually expect the worst luck. The actual 5 star drops didn't do me any favors but I won 3/4 of the 50-50s so I managed to get 4 copies instead of the worst case scenario 2.
Although if I count the original lamp I got years ago, I lost 2 of them for triple pity so it all kinda evens out at the end.

In other news it's Morgan day today so I finally got my Morgan:

You can tell how excited I was to level her since I didn't even take the screenshot immediately like I usually do. It's actually insane I waited this long to roll for her but that just speaks to how amazing so many servants in this game are. Only took 40 rolls and on that one I absolutely just got lucky as fuck. Not much else to say on that.
Since this went well my next FGO pulls will be the Britomart banner so I can get Baobhan Sith and hopefully Barghest. Baobhan's my main reason for rolling so if by ~100 pulls I only have her I'll probably call it a day. If I don't get her at all by 330 pulls (5 star pity) then just fuck this game. XD
I played through the Jalter interlude since it's free and yea along with her new animations she is looking pretty clean now. I'd still consider her a super luxury pull but it's great for her fans.

The To Love-Ru Darkness seasons were so much better than the older ones imo. Much better animation and Yami becomes a main character. Mono and Nemesis help too. I suggest watching them at some point if those were your favorite characters.

In the Elfen Lied anime ending, the protagonist forgives Lucy after learning the truth, they kiss, she goes out to battle, then the scene changes and it's ambiguous whether she survived. But then we see the broken clock start ticking again and we see her return to the MCs house so presumably she went back to live with him and it's a happy ending. In the manga he keeps being an asshole to her until like the last chapter and saying he's only protecting her because he likes the retarded Nyu personality and still hates Lucy for what she did to his family. Of course Lucy dies at the end and the MC ends up marrying his shitty cousin. Like what in the fuck was that ending??? But Lucy and Nyu reincarnate as twins or something and that's suppose to make things better. Just no thanks. That entire manga was just UGHHH.

Only watched Soul Eater anime and that was 10+ years ago. Don't think I ever got too into it but Maka and Tsubaki are cute I guess. Haven't seen or read any of Claymore. Would you recommend it? Just the anime, manga or both?

Lowkey Rika's original sprite is still pretty cute. But I guess it says something about how good the story is that it became so popular with those sprites and no voice acting.

Well Rikka and Akane are the main girls from the first season and they're probably responsible for making the show so popular back when it was airing. Artworks of them were absolutely everywhere. Don't know how many people would have watched the anime just for the giant robots if those 2 weren't in it.
There are also these girls from season 2 but they never gained as much traction: https://myanimelist.net/character/182002/Yume_Minami
https://myanimelist.net/character/189100/Mujina
If you actually like the kaiju/mecha stuff I'd say this anime is a must watch.
I was a huge Gurren Lagann fan back when I started watching anime but in recent years I think my brain has been suppressing it so I don't have to think about that garbage ending. They literally spend the entire second half trying to save Nia, SUCCEED and then she just disappears because hurr durr? Idk. Realistically it should be up there with Rem situation or AoT ending if I actually still cared about the show.
Edgerunners was fine. Am not nearly as upset about Rebecca dying there because that's the kind of life they've been living and the show set that expectation from episode 1. If anything I'm more salty that David wasn't nicer to her but it is what it is.

I've only seen ~6 Ghibli films and Mononoke is definitely my favorite at this point. Don't have anything against them but this is the first one that managed to get over an 8/10 from me. I did watch Spirited away. Not that other one you mentioned. Watched Totoro, Grave of the fireflies and a few more.

I found this Bioshock trailer from 17 years ago and it's pretty surreal watching it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoYorK3E4aM
That monster with the girl riding it is called a "Big Daddy" and it's Bioshock's most iconic enemy. Every time you run into one of those it's a life or death struggle. It wasn't necessarily the scariest game for me but it was definitely very fun and exciting. The story and setting were absolutely insane too with the dystopian society mixed with a 1920's cheerful atmosphere.

Well I hope you enjoyed your game. I decided to play the original Sonic Generations instead because I heard the remake had some really stupid/unnecessary censorship.
Like they cut out a joke poking fun at Classic Sonic's design because someone thought it was fat shaming. Cut out references to Amy being in love with Sonic either because feminisms or muh underage characters. And of course they censored Rouge's outfit so her back isn't showing XD
Don't think we've talked about Sonic but I watched Sonic X as a kid and was a huge fan but never really got into the games. A few years ago I got back into the franchise and since then my thing has basically been just playing every game Cream is in. Which eventually brought me to Sonic Rush where I fell in love with Blaze so now I include her in that as well.
Anyway I beat Generations which had both of them in it but only with like 4 lines each. It did remind me though that I still needed play Sonic Rush Adventure so I went and did that afterwards. No Cream but at least I got to play as Blaze there. And I just finished that one today.
I was gonna play Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 as well on a PS3 emulator but unfortunately looks like it's unplayable. Bummer. I guess it's going into the pile of console games to maybe some day play if I care enough to buy the console. Sonic has to be one of the worst franchises to try and get into in that regard. So many console exclusives on all different platforms. Like Sonic Dream Team recently came out and Cream is finally playable again after like 20 years....but it's Apple arcade only :D

Not super knowledgeable about all the Shadow lore but he seems like a cool character with a really depressing backstory. Let me know how you like his new story if you play the game.
vegeta8639 Oct 26, 10:03 AM
Yup it was something only ultra whales would even consider. Although it's definitely way more accessible now. I probably don't have enough gems for R5 immediately but I can at least get Nahida 1 or 2 more copies for her birthday and get the rest some other time.
Her birthday event did already start and it's completely unvoiced in English because of the shitty voice actors strike so I had to switch languages to JP. Really unfortunate and possibly the worst timing ever.

Yami was my favorite TLR girl back when I watched the anime. Although these days it might be Mikan because Kana Hanazawa and all that. Didn't care much for the other girls until Momo and Nemesis showed up. Definitely a series I should revisit at some point although unfortunately looks like the anime is pretty much dead. Not sure if there's more content still in the manga.

That villain guy said something about her assassin class because due to her insecurity or something. But honestly class relating to personality is pretty much a worthless concept in FGO with all the variety in servants. My main assassins for example are Kama and Jack the Ripper.
The next banner is suppose to be Jeanne and Jalter, then the 5th Morgan rerun which I'm actually gonna roll on this time. Should be there in a week or so.

I liked the Elfen Lied anime original ending better than the manga one tbh. Other than that can't think of any good ones. Oh I guess the 2002 Shaman king maybe.
Are there any you particularly disliked compared to their mangas?

If you play Higurashi make sure you're playing the 7th mod version with voice patch and PS3 sprites. There's multiple versions including a new western one with new artwork and no voices so I'd avoid that one. Definitely don't play the original with the horrendous Ryushiki art either. Here's a comparison:

Don't play the TLOU DLC either because that's where they actually start with the woke LGBT bullshit. Thankfully I read a synopsis before playing it just to see what it was even about. So yea just play the main game, enjoy and then ideally forget about the franchise.

Didn't like Makeine at all. It had decent girls but they didn't do anything interesting with the premise like I was expecting. It's basically just 3 romance stories of best girls losing. And then there's a separate protagonist who acts as a bystander and is mostly useless. I still gave it a 7/10 but it was pretty disappointing.

Gridman was better than I remembered on rewatch and the second season (different main cast) was probably on par or even better story wise. Wasn't even sure I wanted to watch it because the new characters didn't interest me as much as Rikka or Akane but they did grow on me. Also most of the important ships did sail by the end of the final movie so it was satisfying enough.
Yea it's a mecha anime and a soft reboot of some old Japanese super hero show where they fight giant monsters (kaiju). I did feel like a bit of a tourist though since I don't know anything about that type of stuff and was only there for the cute anime girls. So there were a lot of references I missed but it was still fine to watch.
Overall I'm pretty happy I decided to revisit this series. A very fair 8/10.

Princess Mononoke was great. My only complains are that San and Ashitaka really needed to have some more scenes together to build up their relationship. They only had maybe 5 minutes on screen together even though it would have been days while she was taking care of him. That and the ending felt pretty rushed. I think another 5-10 minutes to flesh it out would have been great but by then the movie was already over 2 hours long so they probably didn't have time. Those things prevented me from giving it a perfect score but it was still a very solid 9/10.

Oh Bioshock was great. I definitely recommend at least the first game. It was made in 2007 so too early for all the woke DEI stuff. Just fun killing a bunch of monsters in an underwater city with tons of interesting story/lore sprinkled about. Gameplay was fun too with a mix of conventional weapons (guns) and super powers.
That new Sonic X Shadow Generations game just came out and I kinda want to play that spontaneously so might have to put off Dark Souls for a bit longer. Are you familiar with the Sonic franchise at all?
vegeta8639 Oct 19, 11:35 AM
Kage summit was fine but I didn't like the war arc very much where they brought back all those dead characters and I thought Madara was one of the most boring and uninteresting villains ever. He's just stupidly OP for no good reason and his motivations are just his brother died in a war (which is true for like 90% of Ninja society) so now he's evil. Greaaaaat. Obito was a much better villain and he just got screwed at the end. Kaguya was better but also kinda ehhh.

Well at least they finally improved the weapon pity now. They also have weapon refinements kinda like how you can limit break Craft essences in FGO so you really need 5 copies of each weapon in order to max it. As stupid as it sounds I'm thinking about doing that for Nahida since I already have C6. Like why the fuck not at this point. Just max max her.

Didn't like Haruna from To Love-Ru at all but it's been years since I've seen the show. Pretty sure Ichigo's personality is completely different too. She's more of a kuudere character and also smart and competent. Also obsessed with the MC similar to Mikasa or Rem.

Hmm the material was probably in the shop or in some stage you didn't have time to do? That's unfortunate. You could probably get it on a rerun.
Yea I decided to skip all the banners until Morgan. I want all the Lostbelt 6 servants including Baobhan Sith who I'll probably try getting on the Britomart banner unless Morgan takes 900 quartz. So as much as I liked Huyan Zhuo in this event I have to prioritize. Also the assassin class kinda is kinda ehhh on her. Not sure I'd ever actually use her in game. Not that meta would stop me from pulling but it's something to consider.

Mostly a good leave-off point although they did shuffle some manga scenes around to have a more complete/satisfying anime ending. Meanwhile the 3rd season just keeps directly adapting the manga so some scenes actually got repeated but it's not a big deal.
Not sure how I feel about anime original endings but these days studios definitely seem way more comfortable just leaving shows unfinished with the possibility of more seasons in the future. At the same time we've also gotten more full adaptations which is nice. Like MHA final season recently got announced so there's my excuse to put it off one final time and just watch everything at once.

With Higurashi it's a bit easier since there's only 1 main story so you don't have to skip other girls' routes but at the same time each arc is like 8-10 hours long and they shoved 4 of those into 26 episodes. Also while the animation does kinda work for the horror aspect, a lot of it looks very clowny which I think hurts the anime overall.
A real remake might have been preferable to the shitty sequels we actually got. Even though the modern animation wasn't that good either tbh.
Anyway I definitely recommend the VN. I didn't want to play it either for like 10 years since I had already seen anime but it was the best decision I ever made in regards to this series.

I knew something was off about Western shows and that I liked anime way better long before I could verbalize what it was. But at this point it's basically all political propaganda like you'd expect to see in some communist country. Meanwhile China is making games that people actually want like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. Which country is suppose to be capitalist again?
Yea and that's why I didn't play the second game. Might as well leave the series on a high point.
And that fact about Dark Souls explains a lot. XD I'll probably start playing the first game soon. I do still have some anime to watch but it's probably the next game I'm going to play.
I watched this one a few days ago: https://myanimelist.net/anime/57524/Make_Heroine_ga_Oosugiru
Then I finally watched this Ghibli movie I've been meaning to: https://myanimelist.net/anime/164/Mononoke_Hime
And now I'm rewatching Gridman before this new movie: https://myanimelist.net/anime/50587/Gridman_Universe

I did play Bioshock some years ago which I think counts as a horror game? Other than that I don't know. Never even seen the Alien movie actually. Hopefully they don't mess that sequel up regardless.

Hinata's still my 3rd favorite character ever and the only one that actually wins so Naruto's always gonna have a special place in my heart just because of that. It was of course a good show too but I do think the quality went down after the Pain arc. Not need to even mention Boruto XD

Worse than double because the rates for weapons were worse than for characters and at the beginning they didn't even have pity. It was a super whale luxury thing until they at least added the weapon pity. People with completionist mindset shouldn't play gacha games in general. Unless they have millions to just laying around doing nothing. I don't even want to calculate how much money it would cost to get everything maxed. Over 100,000$ I'm sure.

Ichigo was my favorite while watching the show but 001 probably has the best design just because it's so unique. I absolutely hated Zero Two back then but at this point I'm just kinda ambivalent regarding her character. Doubt my opinion of her personality would change much if I rewatched it but I can at least acknowledge she's pretty hot looks wise. Long pink hair is a plus. 001 does kinda bitch slap her during one scene so you might get a kick out of that at least.

It was probably above average when it comes to FGO events so don't take my lack of excitement as it being bad/mediocre. We did get a bunch of cool free character skins out of it which was definitely nice. And Ex (alter) was pretty sweet even though I never played her original event so her scenes didn't hit as hard. As far as limited events go it was pretty creative and substantive. I just tend not to care very much unless my favorites are involved.

I saw the Imaginary Scramble thing and looks like they did a Yang rerun to go along with it which wasn't the case on JP side. Her 1 day rerun during Valentine's day was suppose to be the only one for the next 2 years so I guess it's good they made this change even if it doesn't affect me. I guess you'll finally get to see her in the story and hey there's the banner if you decide you want her.
I was a bit tempted to get Van Gogh but decided to stick to my original plan since it would be way too much of a luxury pull. Then I played a bit of the new event and now I'm 50-50 on whether to roll for Huyan Zhuo or not. If I didn't have 10 servants next year that are absolute must pulls it would be a no brainer. I guess I could get her next year depending on how my gems are looking by then.

Kimi ni Todoke's 2nd season was in 2011 and they kinda just concluded the story there while the manga kept going. And even the manga's been done for 7 years so it's another one of those random surprise sequels/remakes like Bleach and Spice and Wolf. I wonder if it's because of how over saturated the anime industry is with all the new shit coming out so just having the name recognition makes reviving these old shows viable. But yea it's great for me and for this series since there was definitely more story to tell. I think they left it at a satisfying place again because there might not be a 4th season. At this point I do hope they just finish adapting the entire manga. It's a good shoujo/romance story with a lovable main cast.

Did you play the Higurashi VN? I thought the anime was great for years until I played it and now I think it's very lacking. So much important content was cut and key details changed so the second season had to try and patch them up. Rika's still on my favorites in case you haven't looked at my profile.
I think I'll just binge the new Bleach season when it ends. Really don't care to watch shows weekly anymore. No idea what Dandadan is.

Yea I saw some people saying Joker 2 was shit and let them spoil me since I really didn't care. I haven't really been watching Western shows/movies for the past ~10 years or caring what comes out over there since it's all woke DEI garbage. Or just regular garbage. But I did watch Joker 1 as an exception and thought it was decent.
The "Exactly what you fucking deserve" scene should be a cultural symbol for this generation.
Don't really know what Dead Rising is either. Also haven't been playing many Western games recently in case that wasn't obvious. Very likely there's lots of decent stuff there I haven't played but with my limited time/energy I'd rather spend it on stuff that at least has cute waifus.
Did we talk about The Last of us when I played it like a year ago? I think that's the most recent western game I've played. I do still wanna try Dark Souls of course.

Levi and Erwin would be my next 2 but Eren still has bonus points because I'm still upset about that trash ending. Not sure anyone's beating him unless those wear off. But yea Erwin's final charge was great. Very well written character. I'd add Naruto to the list too since I really like his more mature older self and he did pick best girl which is more than I can say for most main characters.

If anything this might be more cruel since they're just trying to get you to spend more money. Unlike with craft essences, the weapons are on a whole separate banner which uses the same currency so if you roll on those you're not rolling for a whole nother character. Also the rates were even worse than for characters so it was very much something meant for whales or people like me who can skip 10 characters to go all in on one they really like. For me it was Hu Tao, Ganyu and Nahida. I skipped Ayaka's weapon because I didn't like the way it looked. That's another thing, the weapons just boost character strength but you only need 8 characters (2 full teams) to clear all the content. So after I had my Hu Tao and Nahida teams complete, everything else was just luxury so I was only pulling for waifus and didn't really need to make them stronger.
For example I pulled this character recently and I did build her but literally haven't used her for anything. In Mualani's case I already had a decent 4 star weapon and she's decently strong with it so I am using her for some regular game content. Really don't need to waste all my resources on her weapon for like a 20% damage buff instead of getting Iansan or something.

Not sure if you've seen Darling in the FanXX but speaking of characters with blue skin:

So hot <3

You mean the one with the idols and all the free skins? It was an okay even I guess. Serenity got a cute outfit but I'd still very much like a 4-5 star alt version of her. Just like a summer variant or something. Don't want her appearance/personality to change too much.
When I started FGO there was like 2 days left on the Erice event so I skipped through all the story just to rush through it and get her in time. That's the only one I skipped that I probably would have cared about reading.

They're either very arrogant/entitled thinking everybody should want to read their garbage unvoiced side quest dialogue for the lore, or they're trying to fluff up play time for some company statistics because that's apparently a metric investors care about. Stupid thing is the skip feature IS in the game but they only let you use it for some specific parts that you've already seen. Not even for all read text but just a specific game mode.

Yea super loyal/devoted characters are my favorite type as well. Bonus points if they're strong/badass on top. Okita fits the bill perfectly which is why she jumped to my 4th favorite overall after reading the manga. I also love her soft/caring side when she's not in a battle to the death. I'd like to see that type of bonding with the protagonist in FGO as well.
Didn't Giglamesh get covered in that evil holy grail goop at the end of Fate/Zero and that's why he's more of an evil asshole later on? Although he claims it didn't even affect him because he's too cool to be contaminated. Who knows. The Caster version still has that cool aspect to him but he's more chill and actually cares about stuff other than himself.

The FGO Okita (and Nobu) is originally from Koha-Ace which is a gag manga and the first event she was introduced in very much reflects that. Basically a joke story, comedy banter with Nobu and there's a running gag where Okita keeps coughing up blood because of her illness. In the later Gugaguda events they clearly went in a more serious direction with her character and gave her a serious/sad interlude as well. So now she's sort of a mix of the 2. The joke version and the serious version. Meanwhile Type Redline is 100% the serious version. But I don't know if canon wise it's all the same character with the same backstory just during a different summon.

I'm watching the 3rd season of Kimi ni Todoke right now. I already read the manga but it's been pretty good so far regardless. Definitely hitting some nostalgia points as well since this was one of my first anime. After that I've still got Blue Archive and I wanna rewatch Monogatari series before the new season. Maybe not everything but at least some of the good arcs. There's also the Spice and Wolf remake I guess. I might also just pick some random isekai and watch it all the same day. Idk.
Finally done with the SAO game so I might try Dark Souls soon like we talked about.

Horror in anime tends to not work very well so it will be interesting if they do that right. Haven't heard of the guy or read any of his works though. Oh I completely forgot about when Bleach was suppose to continue. Obviously I'll be watching it as well. Either weekly or after the season ends. I'll have to think about it. There's lots of stuff I wanna get to but not sure how much of that I'll do now.
vegeta8639 Sep 28, 5:27 PM
You mean my favorite male character in Fate or in general? Don't have a solid one for Fate but it's gonna be the ones I listed and you can maybe add Gilgamesh caster too because he seems more chill and doesn't have the baggage of brutally murdering my favorite character (Illya). And I guess Kiritsugu from Fate/Zero. Shirou can also be badass af depending on the route/story (Heaven's feel/Prisma Illya).
In general it's Eren, Rean and Rudeus. Probably in that order.

The corresponding weapon banners always rerun at the same time as the character. Obviously if you're already getting the character they want to encourage you to roll for the weapon right then. There are plenty of other 4-5 star weapons that can be usable but the character's signature one is always BiS. In HSR they went even crazier and rather than just boosting the character's stats, they give very specific effects that only that character really wants. So interchanging them is way harder and getting that specific weapon is very much desirable. In Genshin I only pulled like 3 signature weapons in 4 years of playing.

Yea Parvati is pretty meh. I did at least like that alt outfit she wears during the Kama event if you've played that by now. Also her right hand in this final ascension artwork kinda makes me uncomfortable:

Don't think I've paid too much attention to that girl when I was looking at upcoming servants before but yea those designs look pretty good. I kinda like the blue one more.

Can't wait for next Valentine's day to play Okuni's event <3 I guess at least Morgan and Melusine too by that point.

I did skip the story in some FGO events if it looked really unserious and didn't even include any of my favorite characters. Like the one with Christmas Karna and Christmas Martha. But usually I read everything. Meanwhile in Genshin/HSR they won't let you skip shit and you have to sit there and click every line. Usually if it's unvoiced I don't even bother reading the dialogue. Just blah blah from some random NPC, play this minigame, gets primogems. Literally who cares what bs they have to say.

It's really stupid writing considering we're so frail as a human that literally any servant could kill us easily. Yet still we're constantly being spared by pure luck or the enemy not giving enough shits. I wish by this late stage we were way more competent with our missions so stuff like that didn't happen but I guess they don't know how to write a story any other way. Always impossible looking odds, recruit allies, find plot device of the singularity, just barely manage to beat the boss. Rinse and repeat.
At least arcs like Babylonia and Lostbelt 6 had a bunch of plot twists and other stuff going on so it didn't feel so formulaic.

Type Redline Okita is very protective of her master and if anybody threatens him she probably already has her sword halfway through their neck XD
Which can be a negative with recruiting potential allies but it's good character flaw. Less brain/strategy points but more badass/waifu points. FGO Okita kinda did that in this event when she first saw/attacked Yamanami but the Type Redline one would never leave her master to get captured and potentially die like that for any reason. Although maybe I'm completely wrong since that version never met anyone from her human life.
I would love an anime adaptation. Probably on my list of top 3 things I'd like to see animated. Unfortunately the manga's on hiatus or something right now so I don't know what's going on with it. I just know they were releasing chapters every 1-2 months but there's been nothing since march of this year.

I don't know how the JP/CN players feel about it but English language music is pretty popular around the world so if they were gonna do 1 consistent version that was probably it. I think Mihoyo is going for a wider mainstream appeal than just appealing to anime fans who might prefer a Japanese language song. Which is clearly working for them.

Usually when Genshin characters are revealed they become playable in the next 1-2 patches. Iansan is an exception because that trailer went through all the planned regions and showcased a character from each of them. I guess there's also this girl who just showed up for a bit in the story to tease us but hasn't had a proper arc yet. I'm sure she'll be playable eventually and I will absolutely be rolling.

Yea definitely seems like a fitting collab. I wonder if it's just gonna be a 2B skin or if there's gonna be more to it. Nier:Automara is also releasing that anime so I guess they're doing something active with the IP.
vegeta8639 Sep 19, 6:16 PM
Not sure if we've talked about it before but I used to 5 male and 5 female characters on my favorites. But then I started swapping them out for girls because I needed more space and now it's all females. At this point I'm fully waifu brained and don't even know what would need to happen for me to rate a male character over my top 10 or 20 or 50 female ones. Both in FGO and in general.
And sometimes you do hold off on rolling for a character to save for one you want more, get that other character in 50 pulls and then regret not rolling for the first one for the next year like I did with Atsuko. Thankfully they do reruns so I got her eventually. In FGO kinda similar with all the times I skipped Morgan but thankfully they rerun her every few months so I'll get her next time.

I watched Fate/Grand carnival recently but don't know anything about Learning with manga other than I got some free quartz because of it XD
Genshin gives out free gems whenever there's a major bug so that's also a meme in the community. Like hoping that there are bugs or lets go looking for bugs to get free gems. Xiang Yu's cool but I haven't been able to use him really well even though he's an AoE Berserker. Feels like he needs too much setup and dies quickly. Meanwhile Morgan just uses her skills and instantly crits and NPs.

Genshin characters get released alongside their signature weapons which tend to be their best in slot forever. So unless Hu Tao gets massively power crept the staff of Homa will stay relevant. That crit damage is also really nice so other spear wielding characters can also make good use of it. Like there's this one defensive 5 star character and his signature weapon focuses on more defense, but you can build him offensively with Homa. And most 4 star characters would obviously love to have it if available.
Yea Tectone did get it later on a different stream but still wasted 1000$ failing to get a single copy on his first try. And he expected to get 2-3 minimum for that amount.
Odds are ~37.5% every time you get a 5 star and he must have missed that like 20 times. Disgusting luck for sure.

I got the Parvati and Astolfo that I put under the Okuni image. You can see the screenshots right? First copy on both of them. Not super crazy about either servant but it's something. I know Parvati is suppose to look like Sakura but I don't really see it. Sorta wish there was a Sakura servant like Rin and Caren got instead of all these variants that vaguely resemble her if you squint your eyes hard enough. Of course I love my Kama but that's completely as her own thing.

Absolutely nothing regarding animal ears in Okuni's profile or voice lines so I am 99% sure it's just her hair at this point. I guess on this chibi craft essence art you can tell more clearly that's it's her hair going back in a loop:

On her battle sprite though it still high key looks like ears so I don't think we were crazy to think that:

But yea it is what it is. I listened to her voice lines today and like her even more now. Apparently in history she traveled with a husband but here she says it was just her robot/suit of armor thing so people were misunderstanding when they wrote that. Meaning she keeps all her romantic waifu potential too. I'll happily take it.

Yea it's very annoying when you don't feel like playing a gacha but they force you to or else you'll miss the time limited event/rewards. But I managed to finish the Gugaguda event finally and even farmed up to the 5 star command code. My Yang's definitely gonna appreciate that.
The event was okay but us getting kidnapped every single singularity is getting kinda annoying. Especially since this time it was just to save that one girl who's gonna disappear with the singularity anyway. Okita also kinda left us high and dry. I think I like the Type Redline version better. That one is hyper focused on protecting her master whereas this one does her own thing most of the time. I guess because there are so many other servants around and she's also settling stuff from her life.

Hoyo decided to go with those English songs as the canon version for every language which obviously means it's way easier to make a high quality song, but at the same time Japanese/Chinese players might be upset that it's not in their language (immersion breaking). So it was a risky move but I'm very happy with the result. I think it works because she could speak in Japanese but sing in English. That's pretty common in the real world too.

Iansan is one of Genshin's OG character designs that they showed all the way back in their announcement trailer so yea you'd expect it to be one of the better ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAlKhARUcoY
And she's the last one that was shown so I guess they're all out now. Feels kinda crazy that the game's already up to that point.
vegeta8639 Sep 13, 11:51 AM
Yup that's definitely one of the benefits of having male characters in a gacha for me. The downside is that a bunch of events focus on them so less chance for the girls I like to get screentime. But I do like a lot of the male servants in FGO too, just not enough to roll for them over the existing female characters. In Genshin for example I have way more guys I got for meta reasons. FGO is just way more stingy with their currency and there are way more characters I want. Starting 5 years late didn't help either.
The 5 star male servants I have are Merlin, Sakamoto Ryouma lancer (comes with Oryou so it's sorta half-half), Super Orion and Xiang Yu. Ones I would be tempted for are Arjuna Alter, Muramasa, Oberon, Ozymandias. Stuff like that. But there's 10+ girls I'd want before even considering any of them and they keep adding more.

I don't know if they did anything nice for the person in question or just completely ignored it publicly and just added the pity for PR reasons. Another reason is they might be scared of getting regulated if the government catches wind of stories like that. In Genshin's case they just added the pity a few months later but didn't attribute it to any event in particular. Might have just been multiple things adding up. But the one I linked you became very famous in the English Genshin community.
Here's my Hu Tao holding what he was trying to get there:

Can confirm it does live up to the hype. Three years later and still the best spear in the game.

Well I have my own Castoria plus Lady Avalon now who both buff arts to a crazy extent. So I could easily just use both of them plus my Sitonai or something but then the game forces me to use a support. So now I have to use someone else's Castoria that might not have all skills leveled or doesn't have the craft essence I want. In situations like that it can be annoying.
Anyway Okuni banner just dropped today so you know what that means:

Only took 250 quartz so I am very happy with that. Even got a few freebies that aren't anything crazy but I'll take them.
Unfortunately I was looking at Okuni's artwork and noticed something:

I'm pretty sure those aren't actually fox ears at all. I think it's just her hair put up to look like that. I'll wait to see if it says anything in her profile/voice lines but if that's true that takes her charm level down from like A+ to just A. All this time I thought she was a cute fox girl shrine maiden. Bummer.

Regarding the story I only played the event up to chapter 6 because I was busy with the Genshin update and Honkai Star Rail also just released their new patch a few days ago so I've been playing through that story to unlock the time limited event. Rikyu looks fine sure but at this point I'm just playing catch up. Last year Okuni was introduced and I just got her this year. Now I need Morgan and Melusine. Maybe next year's Gudaguda event I'll get Rikyu XD
Iyo battle animations look really clean too. I'll try and use her as long as the event is going at least for the double damage.
Okita's had a rerun every Gugaguda event since I started playing so it seems to be a pretty standard thing. Definitely was a good chance to get her swimsuit version on top. R.I.P.

Speaking of Honkai star rail, I also rolled there yesterday and got this girl Robin:

She's pretty decent looks wise and she's also a singer in game so they have a bunch of songs for her. Like this one for example if you haven't heard of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFHNWJVsjmY
Regarding the Fate collab, there are way too many girls in HSR I still don't have and would much rather roll for than getting Saber just for the novelty. Or who knows maybe they'll give us Archer for free since Aloy was free in the Genshin collab. But sure I'll think about it again when we get more info in terms of design, meta etc.

Yup Mualani's great. The only other Natlan girl I really want so far is: https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Iansan
Don't care much for the archon or other designs. But I am expecting the final region to be epic as fuck so might be a good idea to save gems anyway.
