I'm a bit of an anomaly in the world of anime fans. Or perhaps, since we are all anomalies, my eccentricities are in my divided attention between Western Classical performing arts and Eastern Contemporary Culture.
Some of you here might know me from anidb or AnimeReactor. During high school and college I was obsessed with anime, but disappeared in 2007 in order to explore my career as a classical vocalist and Japanese linguist. I feel my own life experiences have enriched my senses, and can now appreciate the art in anime on a deeper level than before.
I rarely write reviews, but please read them! My mind is very strange (more often to me than to other people) and I like to know what I might fail to recognize or ignore. As hardheaded as I act, I know I'm not the all-seeing judge that I might try to be in order to defend myself. I am willing to stand corrected, though I trust anyone ready to criticize me be ready for an argument.
If your argument has only to do with the manga, then kindly leave me be - I practically don't read manga at all. You are with a laundry list of the obsessed who insist that what is written as a record is definitively better and truer than what is animated or performed. My life and career is spent studying artistic interpretation - I have no interest in being "corrected" because of some garbage one might dig out of the manga to keep on their high horse; art is a complex, enigmatic amoeba of ideas and experiments and does not need to stay concrete to any specific record or previous installment.
Lastly, I am fluent in Japanese, though not native. Regardless, If any fansubbing groups would need an extra translator, feel free to contact me. After years of studying, I'm up for the challenge. I would love to finally be able to contribute to the art form which has entertained me throughout my childhood.

I must say, this is an excellent anime to watch in humungous spurts. Though it has gotten to a point where the average episode has been reduced nearly 10 percent by recaps and introductions for OP-Virgins, it feels like a really long movie at great lengths.
And so, I guess I'll put it away for another year or so.
First of all, my apologies for the late reply; the admin usually responsible for accepting new members has been inconvenienced for a while.
I'd like to welcome you to the "Critics and Connoisseurs" club. Please feel free to take some time to familiarize yourself with the club rules posted on the club's main page and in the FAQ thread.
We'd like the members to stay active by reading/watching the spotlighted entries as much as their time allows them to and also by participating in the discussion threads and most importantly by voting in the weekly polls. I hope that you enjoy your time at the "Critics and Connoisseurs" club as an active member.
Well, for Bleach, I only enjoyed the SS arc and somewhat of the later Arrcancar Arc. That was it though lol, the Xcution Arc was MURDEROUSLY boring but I had a policy of not dropping any of the "Big 3"s so I watched it through skimming through some episodes and watching only the "exciting parts".
Have you seen GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka btw? I'm watching this right now and it's ranked in the top 20 on MAL and is ridiculously funny LOL.
I'm thinking about watching Kids on the Slope real soon while I'm typing this now since NANA has been bought up a few times lol
As for Mirai Nikki, I wrote a review for it about 2 weeks ago so check it out if you want. It "might" convince you. I'm not sure though but personally, I enjoyed it as much as the manga.
And thanks :)
Hmm for the Winter Lineup, from the very top of my head, I would recommend:
Another
Listen to me Girls, I am your Father!
Rinne no Lagrange
Mirai Nikki
That's pretty much it though. There was a lot of hype about Guilty Crown and mixed feelings about it so I can't say for now. I'd recommend you to read the top page review of that before considering the series if you've not seen it yet.
From last year, I highly recommend watching AnoHana, Steins; Gate, and Fate/Zero. I would say that those were my highlights. Yes, there are also many people saying how good Madoka is but personally, I found it to be rather dull.
Hmm, for this Spring though, if you want, I'd recommend so far...Sankarea, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Accel World, and Jormungand. I might also give Kids on the Slope this spring although I haven't started watching it yet. I heard very good things about it though.
I'm currently watching GTO right now and enjoying it ^_^
Well, gl with Another because there is mass people writing that weekly on MAL. The recent OVA that was released for the series generated about 6 reviews this week alone including mine.
As for recommendations, do you mean the current Spring Lineup?
My memories are a bit vague for Onegai Teacher tbh so right now, so I might have to re-watch the series to recall. I started reading manga again recently after reading Cage of Eden, Black Bird and a few other titles. I do understand that Onegai Twins was not that deep compared to Onegai Teacher but there were still some references and similarities to Ano Natsu especially the Remon/Ichigo comparions.
Anyways, I'm sort of curious but any other reviews you interested in doing this year? (:
I did notice that you and a lot of people compared this to Onegai Teacher which I took notice as well because the same character designer and screenwriter, the same basic premise (gorgeous girlfriend from space falls into ordinary schoolboy's lap), even parallels between each of the individual characters such as Ichika. There are also similar premises like this compared to Onegai Twins which I also found similar such as Remon/Ichigo. I found Onegai Teacher to be alright although wasn't anything out of the ordinary. But for Ano Natsu, it created that feeling of appreciation and nostalgia that reflected a bit of realism despite having sci-fi elements. But ya, overall, I'd say this is one of the series of this year that surprised me :P
Oh, off topic but you keen on checking out the manga soon? http://myanimelist.net/manga/35713/Ano_Natsu_de_Matteru
I'm somewhat interested and see how the direction of the manga will go. Other than that, I might re-watch this series in the future.
I am the world's biggest idiot.
