Unfortunately, I haven't been any other examples of the trope as compelling as in Code Geass and SEED. To some degree, the trope fits Haru and Rin in Free!, but since it's a high school sports and feelings series instead of a sci-fi war series, the stakes are much lower, haha. The plot of Captain America: Winter Soldier also fits the trope and I really enjoyed the movie, but it's obviously not an anime!

TvTropes has a list of series that follows "Forgotten Friend, New Foe", but I haven't seen most of them. The "Evil Former Friend" trope has some other possibilities, but I think it's a less fitting trope since one side is deemed "evil," whereas in Geass and SEED, neither side is "evil," necessarily. Hmmm, the list for "We Used to be Friends" may also be helpful. Good luck!

That's because they haven't finished scanlating it yet, but they are in the process of doing so. For quite a while this wasn't being translated by anyone.

Sadly I've also never gotten to read all of it either. I don't know if a scanlation of the later chapters even exists.
