Yeah I think I'm one of those people once they start something they stick throughout the end and I have been watching anime since 2009 so yeah I watched a lot.by the way thanks a lot for you're post
Thank you and I hope I get back to it soon too. Right now sadly my computer is having trouble recording audio...
As for Mother 3, it's a lovely game, one of the best experiences I've had but I haven't really reviewed it in full. I gave my thoughts on the game, focusing a lot on Porky somewhere out there in the youtube comments... but I don't remember where. I think it was some Let's Play. I'll see if I can track it down for you. lol
Aww that's really nice of you to say :)
Oh you're :O, what movie was the last you watched? I love studio Ghibli so much...
I am doing well thank you, a little busy but trying to rest as much as I can.
Hello there
And you are on point I'm his brother, saw you comment on his profile and added you because you are Algerian and a fan of PunPun
Very observa,t of you I must say that's impressive
I'm glad you enjoyed Tatami Galaxy, I tried my best not to over hype it, so that it wouldn't take from your enjoyment of it.
Now that you have watched , I can talk about the story itself.
Firstly, Great review, you were able to put into words what I liked about the show, the dialogue was brilliant, the art style and direction were one of the best I've seen in anime. it was as close to perfect as anime gets.
The only reason I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 ( I have only given a perfect 10 to two shows) is that I think the side characters, didn't have much character development, which is understandable giving the show's structure.
So I agree with almost everything you said in your review.
Though I don't think that the main attraction an of the show was the romance, and that the climax was about Watashi and Akashi getting together, it was a part of it
I found that Akashi was just one of the many aspect of Watashi faulty life style and mindset, she was right in front of him, yet he never acknowledged it, and was never satisfied, and kept looking for the black haired virgin beauty that would make his life happy.
Just like he never acknowledged that Ozu was his best friend and companion, Higushi, Jougasaki, and hanuki were his friends, and upperclassmen who cared a lot for him, he never acknowledged that, and kept trying to make " a 100 friends in each club he was in"
he never realized the time he spent with all of them, and the crazy adventures they went through, were actually what makes his " campus life" great and satisfying... this all was right in front of him the whole time, he just had to reach out and grab it ( and he did in the end ). So in a way the romance with Akashi and the dangling toy, was a representative and symbolic of the overall story of the show as well as the romance.
The overall Idea of the anime, was rather simple, and not necessarily original, but the execution of it was brilliantly done in every aspect.
that's what Masaki Yuasa does best, I can say the same thing about "Ping Pong the animation", which is a sport anime with a simple message, but the execution and the journey of it are what makes it a masterpiece of a show.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment. I hope you are doing fine, take care.
Don't mind the late replies.
As for the Tatamy Galaxi, I've wanted to watch it for a long time now, since all my previous experience with masaaki yuasa's works has been at least good ( especially "Ping pong the animation" and "Kaiba"). So my expectations were high, and I can say they were met, overall the show left a great impression on me.
For starter, I like shows that take place in a university environment, with mature and adult characters ( that's why I love Honey and clover which I also recommend), the Tatami galaxy had that.
The art direction was brilliant, and I loved the unique art style ( like all Masaki's works) the dialogue was funny and witty , yet meaningful and smart when it needed to, ( it's very fast though, so I had to watch it in Arabic subs).
It's mainly an episodic anime, but at the end - which I have found to be very satisfying both emotionally and from a plot point of view - everything falls into place, and it all makes sense.
As for the negatives, of which I mostly have found none :
Some people find the episodic structure boring, and tiring, and others get frustrated with the very fast dialogue, and the heavy symbolism that can disturb the viewers attention and the show's realism, I've also seen some criticism towards the unusual art style and character design ( personally I loved them).
I rated it 9/10 ( was thinking of giving it 10 but didn't)
So you might very much enjoy it, but I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. so try not to have too high expectations, it could ruin the experience.
Don't worry, I wouldn't consider that to be a spoiler. It's actually my brother's favorite manga and he's the one who recommended it to me, and he told me it will be a dark, depressing ride.
Plus I've already read 6 volumes of the manga, and I do get strong nihilistic vibes from it.
and I'm enjoying it a lot, I really like well written mature, dark stories such as this one.
(Technology is on my favorite anime list as you see, and it's probably one of the most depressing and nihilistic stories I've ever watched and It left me with similar feelings to those you describe, it's also a very hard show to recommend, since some people end up completely hating it)
Anyways, for Good night Punpun, I can see the story getting darker and darker, and I can only imagine how the ending is gonna be... I'll tell you what I think when I finish it.
You'are welcome, I'm always glad to find fellow Algerians around here.
I noticed you have Good night Pupun in your favorite manga
I'm reading that right now, and so far I'm really enjoying it.
