Hello, MyAnimeList community. Let me introduce myself. Graduated with a degree in Information Systems, a strand of business. I currently work as a business intelligence consultant, but I hope to branch over into business analysis and IT project management. My non-anime related hobbies include politics, programming, PC gaming, card games, investing, debate, board games, reading and electronics. I used to be the vice-president of my university's anime club.

My interests in anime are fairly broad. While my favorite genres are slice of life, science fiction, drama and comedy, I find myself able to enjoy any series that is well-made regardless of genre. However, there are few genres that I am less likely to like, however, I try to keep an open mind. I find it impossible to select just one favorite series because I find it difficult to compare the quality of two series of radically different genres.

This is the second anime-related site I have ever used, the other being ANN. (animenewsnetwork.com) My user name is the same for both sites.

Outside of that, it's good to at least have another interest or hobby to save your sanity when dealing with anime that plays things too safe. I also have interest in video gaming, walking and researching to take my mind off anime if I get overloaded with anything too cliched for me.

In recent months, I've mostly been sticking with movies and one-shot OVAs that have yet to be licensed while building up any older TV anime, movies and OVAs that catch my interest in my stockpile to watch for when I use too much data a month or waiting on anything to get done loading up from my end. Like you, it is getting increasingly difficult for me to find anything that sticks out as I keep running into anime that keep resorting to the same tired cliches and archetypes instead of trying to bend their formulas a bit for more diversity. I'm aware that I will eventually reach the bottom of the barrel for anything I can think up to catch my attention. But at least for now, I can still get by.

pocket watch reference in episode 3 of seitokai is pandora hearts I was thinking it was that but wasn't sure and thought it was a long shot since I've only seen 2 episodes.
When I first saw the part I knew I had seen that somewhere else and the first thing popped in my had was kuroshitsuji and the secound and correct thing that popped into my head was pandora hearts but the watch design wasn't the same so I really coudn't confirm it.

Those ratings do not count towards a show's actual rating here on MAL, I only rate some quickly dropped shows because they were awful enough (Yeah, I can easily tell after one ep depending on the genre) that I don't want MAL to tell me I have compatibility with people who liked them.

So yeah, I'll keep it up, for as long as 98% of new anime is really ultimately just made for fanservice.

Eh, i've always figured the compatability has to do with how people use the rating system more than anything (someone else asked me that too, despite how many manga we shared). My arbitrary number for "liked" is 7 and above, things would be so much easier if I could just divide them into "hated", "ok', and "liked" without the stupid numbers! I'm starting to sniff out the ANN users on here, but they don't seem to be in overwhelming numbers (at least we all seem to be using the same user names between the sites, eh?)

I watched the first 2 episode of k-on. I had high hopes for it but I didn't like it very much. there seems to be something missing. I think I know whats missing but Its a little hard to explain. However it could be Iam just burned out on those types of shows right now. so most likely Ill try it again later.

Interesting, an 84% is pretty freaking high, so I'm curious how they come up with that percentage? I'd guess it's what anime we've watched in common and the scores we've each given them, but I dunno, it's one of those random numbers arond here I can't find a reason for.

And I did check out Mow123, I had a 79% match with him, so that's pretty high. I wonder what the highest compatability rating around here is....I can't imagine two complete strangers having 100%, that'd be craziness!
