The art is quite unique and memorable, it's also very consistent, with so few pannels that could be considered "bad" that I could count them on my hands. Some designs feel very lazy, but they mostly are found in characters that don't matter at all like Mia the ice spirit or Ador.
This Webcomic can be very good when it focuses on one specific aspect of itself, but sadly it often doesn't seem able to do so. It'll constantly swap between story focused chapters, to light romance, to adventure, to comedy, then we'll get character focused chapters, then world building, and so on, so we end up getting a lot of content, but not a lot of it feels fully or properly developped really. This doesn't mean that it's bad, most of these unfocused parts would still get at least a 5/10 in a vaccum, but there are a few parts that would go down to a mid 4 (but not any lower luckily). The focused parts do get quite interesting when they happen, be it comedy, light romance, or adventure, they often are deserving of somewhere around a 7, they are quite enjoyable.
The characters https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/902374266220204082/1082512556234649711/image.png . I love them, there are a few that are just so annoying like Lox, Rovenin (both of them) or Magikoff in dwarf form, but when we get others like Chad (yes, that's a real character), Iruze, Magikoff's mom, Ray (and candlestick), Undine and of course Geenie, it's all worth it.
The story is really inconsistent, if I had to rate it, season 1 (1-46) would be somewhat interesting, it definitely feels intro-y for a bit, but once ray gets introduced and the jokes start coming, all is forgiven. Season 2 (47-73) starts off really weak, like, really, really weak, but after like 6-7 chapters, it gets a lot better and becomes quite interesting honestly, there aren't as many jokes as I would like and know that I think about it, it always felt like something was happening but not much was really going on, but it is quite good, everything flows nicely and it's interesting enough. Season 3 (74-104) on the other hand starts weak, and then has a weak middle, and only gets good towards the end, nothing happens for literally 19 chapters, which is more than half of this season's duration, we get some good characters, but there aren't many great jokes and the characters take so much time to be introduced that you don't get to enjoy them much, the later part of the season is quite good, it focuses on adventure, then romance/comedy completely, then characters, it flows nicely, and it ends on a suprisingly high note (relative to the rest of the season (thanks to Brite)).
If I had to give it an overall grade, it would be a low 6, would be higher if it wasn't for the third season.
Unique and distinctive art style. Pretty cool designs. Overuses blank space in between the art.
Really, really boring writing, I do not care about any of the charactesr, there's no objective, there's no stake, none of the characters seem interesting or complex, it's just so boring. Only good thing about it is that it doesn't do anything poorly really, but I have no reason to care about it.
Low 4.
The art is violently average.
It's super generic, but also interesing enough to not deserve to be dropped. Is good until the people come back and then slowly becomes better again.
Its jokes are alright, I like the ones relating to stealth.
Skip the cringe chapter 0. High 5.
The art is so good, oh my god! It is, SO GOOD! The pannels also flow really well, you never feel as if two pannels show the same thing or that two of them are so different you can't infer what happens in between (cough cough, looking at you chainsaw man).
I would give this Manhua 3 different ratings depending on the type of chapters.
This is because, I feel that the chapter's quality depend mostly on their type that I would present as: comedy, story and character development chapters.
Comedy chapters: The story starts with these (for about 25 chapters), the story takes a backseat and it's just jokes on top of more jokes. These are usually funny, we get to enjoy the characters, they are well paced in my opinion, I like them and I would give them a high 7 or low 8. Only problem is that they become rarer and come in shorter and shorter groups of chapters as we get further into the story.
Story chapters: These focus on the overarching story, Gray becoming a knight, both fights against the king, the church trying to get Gray on their side, these types of chapters. They are pretty good, high 6 or low 7. They are nothing amazing, but the story is good enough to stand on it's own and we get to enjoy some of the characters which is great.
Character development chapters: Those are this manhua's flaw. We see 3 groupings of them, they come in groups of 7-10 chapters, and they come after Gray being ignorant and trying to be the good guy and failing miserably. They don't work, they feel so odd, they always create this huge rift in the tone of the story, we see the characters "break character" (the always happy Gray becomes sad and thinks about his actions, his lord becomes angry, Shelly becomes Gray's guide, the angel and demon actually make ordered arguments), and after the first one, they are quite repetitive. They just aren't as good as the rest of the story and I would give them 5s.
I really want to read the chapters left (at time of writing, 47 of them), however no translation group has gotten to it yet sadly.
I would give it somewhere around 7/10.
The beginning is a bit generic, focusing too much on the reincarnation aspect for me to really get into it, at least until Art gets separated from his family. But even at that point, until he gets separated from Silvia, it does stay quite boring (I feel that (the real, not armoured) Silvia is a very underdeveloped character, especially considering her impact on the story from that point on), but after those starting chapter, it gets really good.
The art is quite good, in the early chapters proportions and relative sizes are often off, but that quickly gets fixed. The art isn't the most stylish or unique, but it gets the job done pretty well. The early parts use some obvious 3D, but that quickly stops.
I think the whole reincarnation thing and "mental age" should be used a little less and that the title really isn't great, it just isn't representative of what the story really is about since the fact Arthur had a previous life could easily be replaced by other plot reasons for his skill with the sword, his fast growth and his maturity (like a helper or a gift from god).
The story's great, the characters are amazing, I just want more Tess, Twin Horns, Ellie, Elijah, Gramps, Gideon/Wren and so on and so forth, I want more chapters that are just characters interacting without necessary having to move the plot forward without stop, I want more auctions, I just want more of this world!
Going into chapter 140, I wanted to give this a very high 8 or maybe even a 9. However, I have to walk back on this grade, because of deities, the "council arc" and part of the "training arc" from chapters 140 to 160. One of the thing I appreciate the most about this work, is its characters and their interactions. However, here, we don't get any interactions in these parts, just text dumps between Art and differently coloured brick walls to set up a power-up and villains we've never seen or cared about, this section takes way too much time with uninteresting characters that are bland (unlike Wren and the apprentices) and I just have to reduce my rating whole because of that.
So I'm giving it a low to mid 8 simply because of the bad aftertaste it left after those chapters (which are, at the time of writing, towards the end of the story).
