That was a nice review of Sennen Joyuu. For me, though, I couldn't summon enthusiasm for the story as much as other viewers, probably because I thought its idea was great but its execution flawed.

Hey, good to hear from you again.

There are really only 2 seasons, "R1" and R2 (and 4 movies, which are a remake/alternate timeline thing)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/1575/Code_Geass__Hangyaku_no_Lelouch
https://myanimelist.net/anime/2904/Code_Geass__Hangyaku_no_Lelouch_R2
The other stuff is remakes and spin-offs and stuff.

Okay, so technically I didnt give the series a "10" out of 10 either. I actually work on a decimal scale, so kny got a 9.something out of 10 and I just rounded up to 10 for MAL. I find it pretty ironic that kny was airing in the same season I told you about how I couldn't find a shounen I critically enjoyed as much as would like to (fmab only kinda counts). kny was that anime, I loved all the characters and the character development, the comedy got me every time, the animation was beautiful, the art was solid, the fights were really well done and dynamic, music was great, and the emotional moments also resonated with me well. Most of my issues are small things like when they had obvious awkward cgi/hand-drawn in the same shot and other minor things. I'm really excited to see more of it.

Kanata no Astra ended really well btw, it wasn't some perfect series, but the fact that it ended and the ending felt complete and satisfying is a feeling I've missed, anime nowadays (seasonal anime) just don't do that, they rarely end, and even when they do the endings rarely feel complete or satisfying.

I don't watch anime movies often, usually only if they're connected to an anime series or overly popular, but this seems pretty interesting and it's from ufotable so I'll remember this recommendation for a rainy day :)

Tonsil inflammation!? Sounds painful, you prob had like trouble talking and swallowing id imagine. Are you doing okay?
Sounds like you at least had a good time outside of that at least. If you ever take a vacation to Toronto, you should hit me up btw :)

My summer was pretty chill, hanging out with friends, watching anime and whatnot. Nothing too exciting or out of the ordinary but it's been a good time. My last year of classes started again in September but I'm on reading week right now. Already did a big gathering with my friends at a board games cafe yesterday, since it's thanksgiving quite a lot of people were in town so it was really fun. Have you ever heard of the game "Mafia" or "Town of Salem" or "Werewolf." They're all effectively the same game with slightly different rules but the basic idea is there is a group of evil people blending into your group of civilians and they're killing a person every night. So during the day, you have to try to figure out who it is and kill them. The villagers win when all the mafia are dead and the mafia wins when they are a majority of the town because they can just overpower the lynching process during the day since it is a majority vote. It's one of my favorite games but you need at least 9 people for an interesting experience (since 1 also has to moderate the process) so we haven't played in like 2~3years since people have been leaving the city/country for uni and work. We got to play 2 games of mafia (where people get assigned roles randomly) and they were prob my favorite games from every time I've ever played (though I'm probably a bit bias since I'm the only one who won both times :P).
Some of us are also heading to see Joker tmr since the movies are cheaper on Tuesday and in general, I'm a pretty big batman/joker fan so I'm excited about that. I've heard quite a bit about how good it is.
The new anime season just started 2 weeks back, a lot of stuff with potential but nothing feels guaranteed so far so I'll be watching a lot of seasonal animes in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, another season of sword art online is airing so I'll also be watching that. I don't know why, but there are quite a few anime I watch, even though I dislike/hate them... I'd also like to go back and watch more of the stuff I started but didn't really continue. I'm planning on finalizing my top 20 as well since I don't think it'll be influenced by anything else this year.
I also got back into Magic the Gathering, they released a good free-to-play online version and its been pretty fun. But to be competitive, you'd probably have to spend at least some money and I plan to a bit later.

I think that's about it. It's going to be an eventful week since I also have some school work to do.
Anything surprising or eventful happen during your vacation or maybe the concert? I'd love to hear more about it.

Sorry about the super late response, it was exam season and the only free time I got was watching anime on bus rides lol.

That was a really great sequence. I was equally shocked, I figured Lelouch would have a plan like he always does (which he did) but when things went so wrong, it was pretty heartbreaking.

Preferably not fast food. I usually just check google maps for something good/interesting nearby at a reasonable price and get that. I don't really have a go-to restaurant or anything because of that.

I'm liking it so far, it's my 2nd best anime of the season. I like a lot of the over the top scenes and the down to earth scenes. The contrast between the show having crazy things like a guy who stayed sane by counting for 3700years or "The strongest High School Primate" who can 1 punch lions and catching daggers midair and their very real science of gathering/creating things. I can overlook a lot of those things as "just anime things" because the show doesn't take those parts very seriously. It feels intentionally over the top and I can enjoy that. Not to mention just how shounen the show is. I'm a big fan of shounen and have watched a lot of shounen shows but at the same time, there aren't many shounen shows I critically praise. So far this has been pretty good and hopefully continues to/gets better.

By the way, on the topic of currently airing anime. I would highly recommend Kanata no Astra. Another anime best experienced blind in my opinion, there are quite a lot of mysteries and spoilers out there. But the basic setting is a science fiction show set in the future.

Congrats! I'm also on summer break now. Next semester starts early September for me. You have to write a paper while on your summer break? Or is that one of those take-home final exams that are just due later?
Happy we agree :)

Lol, maybe. Personally, I feel really bad for her. I feel like she's validated in being confused and sad, being an innocent bystander in everything.
Either way, I really like the way its portrayed, Lelouch has to deal with his consequences for once and grows as a person.

Pretty good, taking 2 courses but it's been really easy so far. Got lucky having the option to watch both online so I don't actually have to head into school except for midterms/finals. Other than that, just been doing whatever comes up. Friends are free some days and go grab food or watch a movie or play some games. Saw the new spiderman movie a few days ago, enjoyed it a lot but it ended with a cliffhanger which was a bummer. Also started playing dnd with friends, it's pretty fun actually.
That's about it. Been watching as much anime as I can, as usual. Picked up a lot of anime for the summer season, quite a few have good potential so far (1ep aired), so I'm pretty excited about that.

In Canada, the temperature's been super variant, some days we're hitting feels like 40°C but were also getting minor rainfalls often so that drops it back down to low 20s. It's been weird. I much prefer colder weather so I'm at least happy it isn't doesn't constantly feel like I'm melting.

I want to learn Spanish and Japanese. I've wanted to for as long as I can remember. Never really had a reason for it, just always though they seemed like good languages. But now I do have a reason for Japanese, so I can understand more of the references in anime and maybe even watch it RAW! :)

How about you, doing anything fun in the hot season?
