Let's see here... how to describe myself without giving too much away... well I like Anime/Manga, chess and other various games. I'm a guy, as my profile says I am.
I decided to change my policy in reviewing from what it used to be three years ago when I originally came here. Originally I just reviewed stuff for the hell of it, bashing bad stuff as a past time while completely ignoring the good anime and manga. I realize now that it isn't what the point of reviewing is. When you review something, you tell everyone about your experiences with what you watched/read, and give your full opinion on it. Although I just watched certain things just so I could properly review it, and you shouldn't normally watch a show just for the sake of reviewing it (unless if that's your day-job of course). Reviewing is a retelling of what you experienced, and after all is said is done, you tell them your final opinion of it and whether you recommend it or not.
I still will go out of my way to review certain things somewhat, but it isn't my main reason for reading manga or watching anime. I read it and watch it because I love anime and manga, and I review because I want to retell my experience with it. I also promise not to review something unless if I go all the way to the end. Even if it's the most horrible thing ever, I will stomach it and persist to the end. Because I can't give you a honest review of something if I haven't watched all of it. Rest assured, I'll review an anime or manga to the best of my abilities.

Though right now is superbowl xD
Things are bad in life. That's what I've been going through the entire month of January. So I don't want anymore bad things right now to ruin my mood further. On the other hand, it'll be mighty awesome if there's something cool to catch my attention right now... like basketball (huge fan here).
Sure, there are nice new ones out there (just saw one last week), but they are rare. I've actually watched a lot of hentai... if I wanted to review them, I would have been one of the top hentai reviewers on MAL. But a great deal of them have the same lame opening and the same plot-less story that leads to sex and the end. I would be giving a lot of 3/10 and 4/10 if I write those reviews. And personally, I don't like to write stuff to attack other people's works (regardless if they are good or bad). It's just not my personality. Hence I don't think I'm a good reviewer since I only review things that I think are decent (6/10 and up).
If you want to watch some hentai, let me know what kinda taste suit you best... I might be able to recommend some to you LOL :P
Yup, I totally agree with you. As consumers, we have the power to demand better, to demand cheaper, etc... one example I like to use is Apple's iphone. That thing is crazily over priced and why people still flock to it like it's made out of gold. When asked what's so good about it compare to other phones in the market, they can never answer. These people need to educate themselves more before dumping their hard earned money to the greedy corporate hands. And this ties in nicely with your motivation comment. Apple does not feel the need to improve their product because there's no motivation to do so (and quite frankly, no need for them to since people still willing to pay the big bucks).
Oh I never bothered with Sakamichi no Apollon when it was airing but I do remember it was the underdog. Much better than expectations. Let me know when you get to try it. Maybe I'll be it on my list later.
Well the ecchi series' selling point IS ecchi. And ecchi = boobs = panties = weak male protagonist (or perverted protagonist). There's only so many things you can associate a show to ecchi. Though I have to say the first series to bring ecchi to the current near hentai "standard" is Kanokon. I don't think you can ever find an ecchi series before Kanokon with all those daring scenes (and for that reason I gave it a higher rating that it deserve simply because it was the first one to break that boundary).
Anyway, back to topic. You are completely right in that there aren't many series that are worth reviewing (at least not the recent productions). Hence my anime mood waned and my desire to write reviews to express my "love" or "hate" of the shows also fell off the cliff -.-
I rated it a 3/10, just because I didn't see the whole anime. I would have given it a lower score, because I don't know what's going to happen in the next few episodes, and I don't even want to know. Also, I have put the series on my 'Dropped'-list,
just horrible...

And yes there are supernatural elements in Clannad, and it does make it somewhat non-believeable. I understand.
