I'm not gonna read a whole manga just to determine if the characters are actually one-dimensional or not. There could be plenty of sad childhood episodes for all I know, but I checked out Gangsta and valued it on all aspects.

Having shallow characters isn't going to break my interest, it's a culmination of everything that will.
You can tell if a character is going to be complex by the way they speak. The things they reveal in their dialogue, and being shallow was the only impression from them.
Yeah i'll prob see it after I marathon Shirobako (I just finished Samurai X which was a big downer, so I need some slice of life lol).
As for Tatami Galaxy, I hope you enjoy it, its rare that I give anything a 9 so it was pretty special for me haha. If you can get past the rapid dialogue then you should be good to go.
No problem man, yeah reviewing takes a bit of effort so I take a break every now and then, but I usually enjoy it for the feedback and its simply a hobby of mine. It takes me around 2 hours for a 1000 word review not including writers block and trying to remember what happened in the show lmao.
And yeah I suppose we both got great taste haha. My favorites are based on enjoyment rather than critical so it may change. Looking at your favorites, the only one I haven't seen is Shinsekai Yori which I heard is great storytelling so i'll prob check that out.
For a first review you did great. You gave good detail on the show's concept, the pacing of the action, and Migi's character.
You did decent on the character category, but next time maybe give a bit more detail on if you thought the character was useful to the story or why you thought their characterization was good/bad or forgettable/memorable. For example, why didn't you care for Satomi or Shinichi much and why did you like Kana or Reiko.
This is just my personal opinion, while you gave a good argument on why you liked the ost, be careful with the word "fitting". While I'm not fond of dubstep, the problem for me was how out of sync it was with the action or context. Like the bass dropped while they were still talking lol or Shinichi caught a bunch of rocks. It did get better eventually.
Overall, with more detail and practice you'll improve a lot. Good luck with your reviews!
thanks for support. You know, even if you interpret his opinions as little pushy I was happy to discuss it with him. Before the discussion I totally didn't understand why people might use the 1-10 scale in his way, but he provided explanation which at least made sense (that he regards it as a 1-100 school test point scale, when anything below 50 is "fail"). I don't find it practical, but hell, it isn't at least: 10-I enjoy it; 9- I enjoy it a little bit less; 8 and below - I didn't enjoy it.
You know I also kind of like aggressive discussions so I don't even particularly notice when someone is a little prickish. Ok, on MAL once one guy wrote some funny homoerotic insults directed at me only because I rated Fate/Zero too low. But I was pissed more because it was impossible to write him back on his profile (due to some sort of privacy settings).
And truth be told, my Fate/Zero review isn't particularly good and it's rather prickish on its own, so it's not really fair to mind reasonable amounts of MAL rudeness.
Oh, I don't mind him disagreeing with me (him? her? him, I suppose. English is not particularly handy in Internet discussions - keeping track of gender of the gals I'm talking with is bothersome). He raised some interesting issues, even if I didn't agree with him.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback on my review. I'm happy that you find it fair, I tried to write it that way.
